Not too long ago I was reading about the original Lugers and 9x19mm ammo. One of the things mentioned in the article was that Georg Luger designed a step in the chamber to help with the gas sealing. Yesterday I had a chance to shoot a WW2 Luger and I, naturally, collected the brass. As you can see the step leaves a distinctive mark on the cases.

I had a little problem seeing that photo, but then again my head is on backwards...Soo....

What do they look like after resizing?

All three of these were run through a carbide sizing die. The left two were also run through the expander. You can still feel the groove from the step if you drag a fingernail across it. I also noticed some small flakes of brass when I wiped them clean. I don't see anything on the inside of the cases.
