That gun looks a whole lot more impressive than the ammo it uses.
It must be more dangerous than my 458 magnum because it's black and... scary!

Why 9mm Punkin?
I would have thought that a more lethal "knockdown" round would be a better option..say a .40 S&W, the .45 ACP, a .45LC or even a .41SP or .44SP.
Whichever way, that is one good looking home defence weapon mate.

Well Vince, they only make that in 9mm. I do have a Ruger PC4 (.40 S&W) in the gun cabinet too.
One reason I picked it up is because my daughter couldn't deal with the noise from a .223 with a muzzle brake. I gotta admit, her boyfriend's AR has an aggressive brake and is LOUD! I've been looking for a Levang flash suppressor for my AR but they may have quit making them.

I gotta ask - why put a brake on a 223? They bark enough without one. Is it for a practical purpose?

Fair call mate...fair call.
I'm with Grey Wolf on the brake too mate...makes a noisy round even noisier.

My personal preference on the AR is a flash suppressor instead of a brake, because of the noise. Not that I have any great experience in this area.
I just saw a test on brakes vs. no brakes on ARs. The brakes did make a difference in recoil, possibly allowing a faster follow-up shot. It might be interesting to try this experiment with the 9mm carbine. My bet would be that the brake makes no real difference with the lower pressure.

Upper left is the Ruger AR556, .5.56 NATO. Lower left is the CZ Scorpion, 9mm NATO. Upper right is the Ruger Mini-14 (aftermarket), 5.56 NATO. Lower right is the Ruger Scout, 7.62 NATO.
The Mini-14 is pretty loud. I've had folks at the range come over to see what I was shooting, and to complain!

Huh, I've no real experience with these rifles just always thought a brake was to tame the larger calibers and 223 doesn't really fall into that category. Other than a semi 22 that the fil left for my son we don't have any semi's in the house.

Beautiful gun.. I am envious.
Sadly the govt seems to think that they are deadlier than a truck.
