Hi,
Any one has tried the new Remington Core-Lokt Green Tipped for moose hunting with a .300 Mag, 180 grs. I know it is a soft point. what are your thoughts on this new bullet.

do you mean the game changer???? or have they put out a corelokt??? hearing good things on the game changers ... and a tipped projectile is more like a hollow point than a soft point.....but its a long time since first NBTs came out so one would hope the makers have learnt a thing or three since then....Nosler still hasnt made the logical leap and put tip in a partition....we wait patiently the 160grn in .277 would be a much more usable proposition if they did so.

oh well,if its anywhere near as good as the origonal corelokt it will be great...funny thing though the corelokt we have seen for last 20 years arent a patch on the older ones....they had HUGE amount of exposed lead and a star shaped /crown shaped jacket/lead tip join....

laurent, I would not recommend this bullet for moose. I've tested numerous bullets from 0.224" to 0.308" both lead-core and copper. I have not tested the new tipped Core-Lokt but have experience with the most recent soft-point Core-Lokts in 0.277 and 0.308, including the 300 Win Mag. The Core-Lokt is a very soft lead and, when shot from a 300 Win Mag, completely fragments/disintegrates. At 100 yards, a 165gr Core-Lokt in a 300 Win Mag was completely gone after going through a single gallon jug of water. I've watched elk shot with this round have the front shoulder just cut-off and thrown away.

For moose you need a bullet that will maintain its weight and penetrate deep. Elvis would suggest the Partition. I prefer copper like the TTSX, LRX, or MKZ. I've hunted with the GMX on elk but have not used the new CX.

Are you looking for factory ammo or components to reload?

Thank you slimjim, exactly what I think, I already use the 180grs TSX, but I was curious to know if anyone had tried the Remington's new bullet
