I came across an excellent early Carcano carbine in 6.5mm with adjustable rear sight. A fellow was telling me that a gun shop offered him $50, so I offered him $100. He was thrilled and sold the carbine to me. He even gave me some 6.5 military ammo in clips. The bore is bright and the stock and bluing are excellent. I have not seen one of these early carbines. So this gets added to the collection. All the best...

they come in 6,5 and in 7,5 mm, using the same clips. So be carefull with those clips because they are not always easy to find and rather overpriced (and you need them to shoot such a rifle).

I don't know how you do it Gil, but if there is a bargain anywhere out there you will find it...or it will find you.

Aloysius,
The 1891 Carcano carbine was made in 6.5mm. The 1938 Carcano carbines were made in either 6.5mm or 7.35mm. I have both in my collection. You are correct, the clips are required to shoot the rifle as a repeater and are very expensive.

Vince,
I listen when folks talk about selling guns. Most of the time they are not what I want or are overpriced. I just keep listening. You never know what turns up.

slimjim,
This collecting thing is getting out of hand. I feared this would happen when I retired. My dog does not mind another acquisition. At this time I do not have a wife so no problem there. All the best...
Gil

I believe Kennedy was shot with the later model but I could be wrong - it's not like it would be the first time. For some reason I thought it was a 7.35 caliber that was used??

He was shot with a "magic" bullet. That only comes in 6.5mm.
