Here ya go Eric....take this duck huntin' mate.

120mm Shotgun Round

Its a Cannister round fired from a 120mm gun in a tank. Take note right towards the end when it shows a single round fired at multiple targets on a range....the sound of the round being fired is enough to make me want one, but the down range performance is to say the least awesome. Very Happy Very Happy

You wouldn't be shooting a single duck mate....you'd be chasing whole flocks of the buggers. wtf Shocked

Cheers, Vince

Heck with two rounds you could clear the forest with the first shot and kill everyone left standing (or crawling) with the second round.

Looks a bit like a Bee Hive round. Vince, when A btry of 319th of the 173 Abn was overran in the Ashau Valley, B & C turned their 12 guns on A's 6 guns and fired point blank untill all movement ceased. We got the 6 guns from A in at the 2/319th of the 101st Abn at Ft Campbell. It was amazing what the projectiles will make holes in, including several inch thick cannon barrels.
Best,
Ed

Not sure what you guys in the US Artillery call a Bee Hive round, but a Bee Hive in the Aussie Army is actually a "stand off" shaped explosive charge used to punch holes in things.

Shaped Charges

Back on topic...how many days now Eric?

Phill....in the Aussie Army its the Canister round that is loaded with flechettes, fired from either a tank, artillery gun or a 40mm Grenade Launcher (M79 or M203).

The Tank Cartridge, 120mm, Canister, XM1028, is a tank round comprised of 1150 (est.) tungsten balls, which are expelled upon muzzle exit. There is no fuse on this round.

The 40mm canister cartridge provides a short range anti-personnel capability from muzzle to a maximum effective range of 100 metres.

The Beehive is what I've posted above, a Shaped Charge Demolition Charge...I've actually used them. Maybe some Armies call the Canister round a Beehive round...dunno.

Vince, what we refer to as a "bee hive" round is similar to canister but contains flechettes instead of round projectiles. A cousin of mine served in an USMC Ontos unit in Viet Nam, including the Tet Offensive in Hue, and told me stories about how effective they were.

You know, with a round like this I might be able to hit some Sporting Clays...
