#1: A Wee Dram Author: Vince, Location: Brisbane AUSTRALIAPosted: Sat Jan 21, 2012 5:05 am ---- Sitting here thinking about life in general and thought...a wee dram would go down well. My Mother in Law gave me a crock of Grant's scotch that was given to my Father in Law about 15 years ago when he retired (he was a non-drinker).
OK, my Mum is visiting from Sydney so I reckon it is time to uncork it and have a taste. Not sure how old it was when bottled, but I can tell you, it is most pleasant now...so much so I just might have to have a couple.
Cheers, Vince

#7: Re: A Wee Dram Author: Vince, Location: Brisbane AUSTRALIAPosted: Sun Jan 22, 2012 9:11 pm ---- It is a blended whisky FN...but that just means it has the best of both worlds mate...although I must admit I am rather fond of a good single malt whisky.
Cheers, Vince
#8: Re: A Wee Dram Author: radar, Location: North Island New ZealandPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 1:11 am ---- You put ice in it?
Doesn't that water it down.....
Irish for me; a wee dram of Tullimore Dew occasionally........
#9: Re: A Wee Dram Author: Vince, Location: Brisbane AUSTRALIAPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 1:18 am ---- Yes mate...a couple of small ice cubes...but I did try it before polluting it.
Tullamore Dew is a nice drop, as is Jamesons.
Cheers, Vince
#10: Re: A Wee Dram Author: lesterg3, Location: DixiePosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 5:02 am ---- Vince I am appalled, ICE.
Well at least it was not single malt.
#11: Re: A Wee Dram Author: Vince, Location: Brisbane AUSTRALIAPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 5:21 am ---- Don't stress Lester old mate....NEVER, under any circumstances, regardless will I put ice in a fine single malt whisky...that would be sacrilege of the highest order.
More often than not I find that a blended whisky lends itself well to a couple of small pieces of ice.
Cheers, Vince
#12: Re: A Wee Dram Author: lesterg3, Location: DixiePosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 5:49 am ---- Not stressed about your icing a blended, just jealous that you got to drink it and not me, so I had to poke at ya a bit.
Once upon a time many years ago God smiled upon me and directed me to buy a very expensive bottle of single malt while I was in Northern Ireland. Took me many years to finish the bottle and on a good day I can still recall rich smoky flavor of peat and the hint of what I think was chocolate and tobacco.
Cheers

The brother in law pulled out the Johnnie Walker BLUE at Xmas.
Very nice, just dont drink anything else after it, made a 21 yr old glenfiddich single malt taste like metho.
Mental note to self, 1 whisky type a session.......
#14: Re: A Wee Dram Author: Vince, Location: Brisbane AUSTRALIAPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 12:54 am ---- JW Blue....I know it is good mate...but I tell ya, it would wanna be to overshadow an OLD Glenfiddich.
I think the Johnnie Walker BLUE is still a blended whisky, but it is blended from extremely old whiskies. Never been luck enough to try it though...maybe one day.
Cheers, Vince
