#31: Re: Postal Shoot Author: Bushmaster, Location: Ava, MissouriPosted: Sun Aug 08, 2010 1:01 pm ---- Hey!! Not fair!! Every time I go up to the range my beer warms up so bad that I have to go back to the house to cool it. Never get past the tenth shot. When I get back to the target I forgot where I left off...Hafta start over again and by the tenth shot...........

#33: Re: Postal Shoot Author: Suzanne, Location: Eugene, OregonPosted: Sun Aug 08, 2010 8:24 pm ---- Isn't anybody wondering what's going to happen if I do better than they do? I'm going to give it another shot and Bushy,Wiersy you better be in top form! You don't wanna be suckin your thumb crying about how an old Indian lady beat the snickers outa you. This is firing me up for doin better too. Wish I could do a photo shop chop of you guys with your parasols stuffed in your back pockets. (If I insult you enough, you'll do it) Go out in the early morning before beer time, just about lawn mowing time and it's actually really nice outside. Grab you're smoke pole instead of your wicket. I gotta remember to bring something to sit my buns on too. Funny I was thinkin wicket and buns all in the same thought. Hey where's ole Chambered? and Fnuser? and the other gangsters, Vinnny! Wedding's over Vince. Where's that Alaskan pole-eseman? Roklok, get outa bed the sun's shining again. PumpittySlinger!! Sling some towards a dart board target it's fun! Rallying the troops is fun too. Just can't remember names right now....

The 78%humidity turned into 100%, with rain, thunder, and pretty lightening. By the time I hit that little target 21 times with the 45-70 there shouldn't be much paper left. Kinda like connect the dots.
#35: Re: Postal Shoot Author: gelandangan, Location: Sydney AustraliaPosted: Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:57 pm ---- Disappointed that I could not visit the range yesterday..
I got to work last weekend to finish an urgent project..
Maybe next week.

That's a good way to describe how small and challenging this target is! You need to precisely, no surgically, place 21 shots on an 8.5 by 11 inch target (or bigger paper in the UK and Down Under)
#37: Re: Postal Shoot Author: Bushmaster, Location: Ava, MissouriPosted: Mon Aug 09, 2010 6:16 am ---- Suz...It was 82* this morning at 0700 when I fed the horses. By the time I get all the chores done around here it will be in the 90's.
Target? Small? At 50 yards? With a weaver 3 X 6? Has anyone seen my target? I can't find it...That little white dot? Oh yeah...I see it now. I think.

This year we seem to be having more humidity then normal.
And next you’re going to tell us how big the mosquitoes are! That you can't fend them off and shoot at the same time!!
#39: Re: Postal Shoot Author: Bushmaster, Location: Ava, MissouriPosted: Tue Aug 10, 2010 6:18 am ---- Mosquitoes? What mosquitoes? It's the darn pre-historic flying bugs that reside in Missouri. I've seen them chasing bats around here.
#40: Re: Postal Shoot Author: wiersy111, Location: Central MinnesotaPosted: Tue Aug 10, 2010 7:13 am ---- Nope skeeters ain't bad at all this year.
#41: Re: Postal Shoot Author: Dawgdad, Location: On the PrairiePosted: Tue Aug 10, 2010 7:19 am ---- I printed the target and it looks Oval? I will try it out Saturday morning -
#42: Re: Postal Shoot Author: slimjim, Location: Fort Worth TXPosted: Tue Aug 10, 2010 11:24 am ---- notice the pictures of Suz and my target are slightly oval also.

Nothing to be proud of here! I had a little time after I turned my bid in for a kitchen so I ran over to the range. I did however manager to forget half my equipment. But I figure I would give it a try any way. It is pretty hard to find the numbers with a 2-6x scope at 50 yards, I have determined the the 45-70 might be a little large for this target. But it was fun to try, very challenging with a hand cannon. The target is nothing to brag about but all in all for the conditions and shooting with a handgun I am satisfied. The BFR is set up to shoot minute of deer. Next time I will try with the 7mm mag. or the 257 Weatherby. This time the rain and the fact that it was Beer:30 forced me off the range.
Weather:
77*
88% humidity
wind east 8mph
Light Rain
Shot with BFR 45-70 with 2-6x Swift scope at 50 yards.
Load: 405gr cast boolit over 50gr IMR 3031
Notice the one shot to the extreme right of the target.......I had to shoot a skeeter that was trying to take off with my target
#44: Re: Postal Shoot Author: Bushmaster, Location: Ava, MissouriPosted: Tue Aug 10, 2010 1:15 pm ---- Looks like my target only with bigger holes then mine. I don't feel so bad now...Soon as it is cool enough I have a go at it again.
#45: Re: Postal Shoot Author: wiersy111, Location: Central MinnesotaPosted: Tue Aug 10, 2010 1:28 pm ---- Not a good a good day to shoot but much better then sitting around the house. I want to try the 45-70 again, this time trying to stay on the inside of the target to see if I can remove the center of the target before I try the bullseye.
