Don't tell me that Australia has gun control!! I didn't know that. That's a shame.

Vince, I dint have a T/C but I thought the law say that anything below 40cal or 10mm and got a barrel above 100mm is legal..
How come you have to hand in a 30.30? you could use that for silhouette shooting..

PS, I am a HK P7 in 9mm...

Hey ya Mister HKP79mmGelan..... Laughing I got sick of jumping through the hoops that the laws kept throwing in front of us everytime we would turn around so I decided to get out of pistol shooting completely and handed in my Ruger Mk1 .22, my S&W 586 .357 Mag, and my TC Contender in 30.30 Win. You are correct mate...I used to use it for sillouette...shot AAA on a personal best of 38. Loved it, but when they introduced the new regulations making you attend so many shoots a year etc I couldn't keep up because it would mean I would have had to attend other clubs (expensive) to keep up to date (our club had lost its range at Belmont in Brisbane). But that ok mate....I got $5K for all my bits and pieces which allowed me to purchase my O/U Fausti Stephano 12g shotgun and my .243 Weatherby...also got me in the good books with the missus because I gave her $2.5K of the money from my pistols.

Cheers, Vince

Oh yeah....we got gun control alright. Crying or Very sad The vast majority is from knee jerk reactions by our last mongrel bred a@%@hole Prime Minister. He even showed up at a meeting on the firearms laws to give speech...wearing a bullet proof vest ! I'm not a vindictive man, but there were times when I sorta hoped that someone would take him out with anything other than a firearm (don't want to make a matyr of him).

We are not allowed any semi auto rifles or pump action shotguns or pistols above a certain calibre (.45 cal pistol is illegal)...its a real pain in the lower rear portion of one's anatomy. To own a pistol you have to be a member of a Pistol Club and to own a rifle or shorgun you have to justify ownership..hunting, target shooting etc. Also it is illegal to hunt with a pistol and there is no such thing as a CCW out here. There was even talk at one time that you would have to specify what firearm you were going to use for a given activity...and that is the only thing you could use it for. Would mean that you couldn't take hunting firearms onto the range...even to zero or do load development and firearms for target shooting wouldn't be allowed to be used anywhere except on the range. So your you beaut 12g shottie that you shoot Trap and Clays could no longer be used for hunting. Don't know what happened with this idea....I just hope someone saw commonsense and scrapped it completely....but I'm sure the antis haven't forgotten it. Mad

The antis here in Australia work with the antis over in the US and there is no doubt in my mind that they use each other's country to "test" ideas to try to defeat firearm owners. Mad Evil or Very Mad

I guess the socialists in your country got what they wanted. I just wonder if they actually went out into ranch country and took them away from some rough cowboys.

I was told that the Canadian Government wanted gun control, but did not want to go into western Canada to confiscate guns when the people out there told them yea, just come and get them.

Perhaps some of our Canadian friends will fill us in on this.

They did confiscate a few specific models as there were not enough of them to be hard for them to track down, the rest of them they wanted banned they "grandfathered" and slowly placed restrictions after restrictions, and now they are safe queens not allowed to be taken out of the home the owner of the firearms lives in.

Glock22

They must be joking - I'm a Hi Power person.

On gun control:

1) It doesn't work
2) The results in both the UK & Oz PROVE it doesn't work.

We have loonies from both HCI & GCN operating over here too. They're a LOT more open about there agenda here, with none of their lying "reasonable restrictions" crap they use in the US - they want ALL privately owned firearms banned.
Several of their UK members are also involved with PETA & other radical "animal rights" groups, so their agenda is pretty clear.

This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future.

People better wake up!!! I know a lot of people in Texas that wouldn't give them up. You can take that to the bank. I'm sure that they'll be lots of western states that'll back that up.

Vince,

Yes the 30-30 TC is a sweet one. I was driving through the ranch one day with the windows down on my pickup and saw a doe out of my passenger-side window (that looked fat enough to make some fine camp meat) so I pulled the 30-30 Contender and dropped her with one shot at about 100 yards. My only problem was that the barrel was still inside the cab of the truck when I touched her off and it rung my ears! Not a wise move. I recommend that you stick the barrel out of the window.

The longest shot that I ever made with the 30-30 TC was about 250 yards (on some wild hogs). That 14 inch bull barrel is a good one. We were combining corn and ran about 5 of them out of the corn field. I got two of them before they made it to the brush.

Sounds like a windy story, but I'm willing to bet that Vince will back me up on the abilities of the 30-30 TC.

Glock Model 22 40 cal.
Question #15 is totally unfair. I did go for the brain factor and I figured that Martha Stewart could at least help with shelter, chores and conversation. Very Happy

No argument there Cary....the 30.30 TC is a magnificent pistol. Mine was a 10" BBL and I have shot a 5 shot 5" group at 200 yards....nothing to sneeze at from a pistol, thats the best I could do although I know that the pistol is capable of better.

The hitting power of the 30.30 TC is also pretty good. I know it ain't exactly up to the standard of a 45.70 rifle, but it is certainly sufficient to give a one shot humane kill at 100+ yards if you do your part.

Yep, a magnificent firearm...as are all of the TC products I have encountered.

Cheers, Vince
