Well, I got some good news yesterday. While I was checking out a new location for my eldest daughter and her kids my hunting mate went for a drive about 3 hours South of Brisbane. He spoke with a property owner who said that we are welcome to come in and hunt as often as we would like. She will even supply a vehicle for us to use. She said that there are more rabbits than we can shoot (we'll see !!), pigs, dingos, wild dogs and possibly a deer or two. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy I can see this is going to cost me heaps in pressies for her...choccies, flowers, wine etc...but its well worthwhile. Very Happy Very Happy

This is great news since losing access to our last place due to irresponsible morons who apparently couldn't tell the difference between grazing beef cattle and wild pigs. Mad Mad They even cut the locks off the gates to gain access. I believe they knew exactly what they were shooting...they just didn't get the carcass out before the farmer came to see what the shots were.

I've started to gear up already Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy .

Cheers, Vince

Dear Vince;

Some of my most prized woodchuck hunting areas have been lost to the same type of irresponsible people you mention. Once an ifraction has been commited, the property owner takes a dim view of anyone using or sharing his property. He is well within his rights, I respect any landowner. It's those who have no respect that muck things up for the rest of us.
Good luck on the new range and good huntin'.

Yep, I reckon you are right. Haven't actually met the owner yet so I don't know how old she is....not that it makes any difference. Her attitude is old time aussie.....will do anything to help others. I love it.

Gidday Glock. Mate, its terrible, there are no seasons on anything where I live. Very Happy Very Happy If its feral then its fair game. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy For roos though you must have a professional license and tags that you have to buy....about 50c each I think.

My mate and I intend going out probably 3 times this year which is more than enough to put some "underground mutton" (rabbit) and venison in the freezer.

Cheers, Vince

Gidday Bushy. You never know your luck in the big city mate.....rich widow woman, 500 acres Laughing .

Seriously though, we always took something down to the guy whose place we used to shoot on....a carton of beer or a bottle of Scotch.....our way of saying thanks for the access, trusting us and allowing us to shoot on your property.

Cheers, Vince

Here I am just kidding and everyone is slamin' on me. Years ago I and two others had exclusive hunting rights on a rancher's land and we showed our appriciation by many gratuities to the propietor and his wife. Man that was some good hunting. Upland game bird and deer. The cattle did have the right-of-way of course.
