The last two guns I have acquired are a Marlin 1895 Cowboy, and a Brownells 10/22 clone. The Marlin weighs 7 pounds. The 22 weighs 10 1/4. Does anyone find this a bit odd?

No, probably why you don't see many Brownells 10/22 clones around.

Boyd's pro varmint stock, Brownells receiver, Ruger bolt, Ruger BX trigger, Ruger target barrel, Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50. Here are a couple of five shot groups at 25 yards (22.86 meters for our down under friends). I think it shoots OK.

OOO< PRETTY GUN!
Now I can see why it weighs so much.

Yea, I'd agree that it shoots ok. That looks like a sub-caliber group at 25 yards.
What ammo are you using?
Whatever it is, the gun seems to like it!

If you could shoot groups four times that size off hand I would tell you to get involved in small bore silhouette. You would bust 40 for 40 every time.

Shocked looks like 20 inch +,- ,bull barrel, dont know whether steel or alloy receiver ,and heavy laminate stock!Yup-judging by one of mine-10 1/4 pounds is easy to achieve!Scopes not light either!

The group on the right was the best I had ever shot at .250. The one on the left is the best I have ever shot with any gun ever at .150. The best part is that I shot it with relatively inexpensive CCI SV.
