So really it's a money farm, that's wind generated power of another kind. My local utility tries to elicit more money out of me by offering more expensive "green power". Their only incentive is that it's a cleaner way to produce power. We can sign up for it, but it's more expensive. What would make me do that? Like modifying my car to run bio-diesel, a cleaner way to run your car. It's more expensive to use, harder on engine components and you get less mileage. Why would I do that?
I'm more concerned with my money in the bank than what effects my environmental foot-print is doing. Why should I go broke paying for all that crap that doesn't work so some politician can say he's cleaned up the environment. Meanwhile India, China, Mexico, Russia and every other high polluter goes on chugging away the clean air, water and all.
Sorry I got things to do. The people with money should spend it as they like. The people without have to make a living. Politicians need to downsize government and need to find out what life is and what making a living is. There's a government program your tax dollars pay for, it's an anti-smoking campaign. Your tax dollars also subsidize tobacco farming. Is there anybody home?
They're doing very well at television propaganda and our public broadcasting has become a huge message market too. We've always thought of public broadcast networks as unbiased news and programming....not anymore....but that's why it's become one of the biggest propaganda engines, they already had our trust that it wasn't biased. An accepting audience ready to listen.....so how dumb are we? Next election will tell all.

pantys

It will be interesting to see how this Solyndra scandel plays out. I read where it was known after $100,000 invested that the company wasn't going to make it but the O-administration keep pushing to give them more. This is nothing more than Chicago-style politics (mobsters) at the national level.
Another thing they don't tell you about wind power is their typcially has to be a fossil fuel power plant built and running at idle to take the load on the grid when the wind stops blowing. They never factor in the cost of the back-up plant.
Dumb as dirt, just like using your food supply to make fuel (corn to ethanol)

If you concider how many years they have been trying to harness solar, wind and water for power. The only one that ever amounted to much was water in the form of hydro-electric. Mostly because it was always there and had the strength and dependability (always there). Even the ancients used water power to drive their machinery. The Dutch were able to harness wind power to grind wheat into flower and to pump water for drinking and to pump water from one side of a dike to the other side. But they now use Diesel-electric to do all that. The sun is great for drying food to be stored for later consumption, but that's about all.
Meanwhile we (the U.S.) has the largest coal underground, more natural gas and oil then any other country and we let it go to waste. Just Plain STUPID!!

I wouldn't be surprised if Solyndra is only the first of many similar outrages plans under the radar by our POTUS. Before Bush left office, his administration voted no to help this company. Obama steps in and streamlines the loan.
I hear you Slim, using food supply to make fuel.

I could think of a few things that fit that catigory. Like a cool morning mountain breeze sittin' a saddle with a good horse under you at 5,000 feet.
That would be one...

High on a mountain stream with a 18" or larger Summer Steelhead hooked up and running.
That would be another.

0500 on a crisp morning with 3 to 4 inches of new snow down and crossin' over a ridge on a good track with one's trusty Mod 94 at the ready.
That's three...
