I tried to see it but based upon the blast it would almost seem that the round is just leaving the muzzle when the observable whip starts. Too lazy today to capture the video and slow it down even more but anyone else see what I mean?

Pretty amazing footage - looks like a spaghetti gun. It does look as though there is no whip at all until the bullet leaves the muzzle.

Wonder how much of that is caused by the brake, blasting gas sideways.

Excellent thought Pumpkin !!!
That video could help put things in perspective for someone that might have trouble understanding the barrel timing concept.

Just wondering, on a full auto weapon, could barrel whip cause bullets to go astray? You would think so , but only if the gun could fire before the barrel returned to its natural state.

Wow, that was an amazing video, I'm sure that firing full auto would definitely have an adverse effect on accuracy. This is probably one of the reasons they use a thicker barrel on large caliber full autos.

From Pumpkin's reference:
The pressure pulse is quite fast, reaching max pressure in around 0.4 mS typically, with lots of little “bangs and clangs” going on as the firing pin strikes the primer, the primer explodes, the pressure starts to rise and move the bullet, the bolt slams back, and the bullet engages the rifling. All of this happens in well under 0.1 mS (100 microseconds). The mass of the barrel precludes this very fast excitation from getting to the muzzle in any significant amount. It will start to “ring” but won’t get really shaking until the bullet has left.[u] This filtering makes the muzzle position very insensitive to the charge and seating depth.
My emphasis added. The visible whip does take place after the bullet leaves the rifle. Going to treat myself to a beer. (any excuse will do.)
After reading all that my head aches ............... need more beer.

Thicker heavier barrels still whip their size is more about heat management.
