Interesting that shotgun is your highest usage. Must be all the waterfowl you bring home. No pistol? I'm well over a 1000 .223 and double that for .22 rimfire. 50 for the .270 and 400 for the shotgun now that I do tactical matches.

A few years back I was just shy of 14,000 rounds ......... mostly 9mm !!!

Back when I was shooting skeet most years I would be around the 10,000 mark ........ mostly 28ga.

This year so far ......... I shot 1 pistol match Sad

410g- 200

I'm easy on the pocketbook, reloading but not shootin much lately, I can only show estimates, this really makes me think, hhhhmmmmmm, how many MMmmmm
17hmr---400
22lr---200
32h&r magnum---100
380acp---350
40s&w---400 (sold that gun)
30-30---50
270---25 (got kicked out of the forest)
7.5x55Swiss---50
7.62x39---100
30-06---none I think
8mmMauser---150
12ga---25
Well that's 1850, if you add it all up and that's so far this year. More than I thought really, it's like an addiction, you never know till you really sit down and think about it. Gotta have reason to clean the guns so I try everything out at least once a year. That was interesting going through that old post. Lots of names I never heard of. Next should be how many fishing lures lost in a year.

Suz

The operative questions for guys that shoot so much is how many rounds do you have pigeon-holed? Don't answer that! If my house catches on fire, I'm dragging all my ammo and powder out the door first so there is no danger to first responders.

In short, 50lbs max... Shocked My insurance agent is also a shooting buddy never keeps more than 20lbs in his house. I myself have 43lbs of powder stored in 2 cedar chest boxes for both BP and smokeless. In my state, they go by federal atf law and some other states are even more restrictive than the feds. It all depends on state & local fire laws. Heres a link to Alliants web site that has the atf storage laws.

Powder Storage

Hope they don't count loaded rounds!! Laughing

For a non-competetive shooter?

A LOT!

When I was shooting trap every Sunday? Double that!

I was buying 2-3 bags of 1000ct patches every few weeks or so.

I aint got more than 9-10 pounds of propellent @ any one time as it get's loaded up almost as fast as it comes home...then it gets shot, there's no where to store it all!
A VERY good freind of mine has an absolutely staggering amount of loaded ammo. I'm hiding out at his place when Obama finalyl kills off the rest of our economy.

Here in fruitcakeville it's 10k primers/20# smokeless max per residence. WTH?? I can fit all that in a shopping bag! Laughing

how many fishing lures would be good Suz except that my family would be in the possitive!!!
my duck pond / fishing hole/ local lake is great to us. When the water level drops we go lure fishing, look all around the edges and go cruizing in the dingy round n round the submerged trees till nylon is spotted then I nose her in and someone grabs a hold and pulls it in till we know whats on the end. My son and I collected about $200 worth one morning.
I use more shotgun because its easy to find a creek close to town to go and look for a duck but it takes a little more effort/planing to get away to use a rifle.

I would shoot maybe 200 12g rounds a month shooting Clays...but that is about it at the moment.

When I was still in the Army I would shoot a minimum of 400 .357 target rounds per week from my S&W 586, at least 100 .22 from my Ruger Mk1 pistol, maybe 10 rounds per week from my 30.30 Contender and maybe another 100 .22 from my rimfire rifle.

Now I'm retired and on a pension, I simply cannot afford that sort of cost anymore.

Cheers, Vince

and Slimjim we arent responsible enough to be allowed handguns here in NZ you can have them but you have to be a member of a gun club, you have to have extra securaty at home for storage, you can only use said handgun on a regestered range, bla de bla de bla, enough red tape and cost to deter most people.the other thing that is agaist it is that your details are all on our national data base. I have heard from a very reliable source that he was crossing a border over in the states somewhere and after the trouper went and checked out his details on his computer he asked this gent about his handguns as he was carrying one. you see the details arent eggzachary private and the crims can shop to order when they source your info they know what you have and what security as well.

I actually knew that.......... In the past it was sometimes hard to accommodate that rule !!!

Buying in bulk is how you save money re-loading..... you already know that though !!!
