So for the first time in a long time, went to the range, and sighted in my Envoy with the Redfield scope I installed on it. I was out of 168gr or 155gr SMKs so I was shooting some of my 150gr UMC ( ). Didn't have high hopes using FMJ rounds on my "target" rifle, but a trip to the range is a trip to the range.
First shot was about 8" high at 100 yards, but centered (I cheated and used a laser bore sighter). Dropped my scope down by 8", and the round hit center. Which is currently my record for least bullets used to sight in a rifle (previous was 3). The next 2 rounds for a 3 shot grouping covered by a quarter which got me excited considering the ammunition I was using. Shot another similar group and packed it up.
Then I used my M1A, which was still zeroed correctly (5" high at 100 yards for a 300 yard zero more or less using 150gr ammo). Didn't group this one, let my buddy and my dad shoot it for fun. Not too bad though, my dad's first 5 rounds managed a 2.5" group, even though he was not trying for grouping.
I know I didn't really shoot much today, but it was too hot for this cold-blooded guy to stay too long outside today.

Well, I'm glad you got out, Dimitri. But your comment almost made me laugh. Too hot in Canada to shoot much!?!? How hot was it? You should come down to Texas to do your shootting.

It got to about 90 degrees here plus the humidity putting it close to 100 today.

Well the Envoy has a undersized bore, just for being able to get better results from FMJ, as the same barrels were used in the L42 rifles from the British Army, who's supply of ammunition was FMJ. So I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. But with FMJ I was thinking I'd be lucky to get 1" groups, not quarter covering groups.
I've got quite a bit more of the UMC stuff, and a bunch of South African surplus, next time I'll compare the 2. Bought it all for plinking with my rifles, before I got a bunch of Federal GMM and reloads that I've been shooting instead. But now I'm out of both, hence the FMJ.

I got some range time in today myself. Broke out the .220 Swift (Ruger 77) and .280 Rem (Win 70) for the first time in years. New scopes on both so they are finally zeroed. I still have some load testing to do with both too.

Went to the range also with the wife, shot the 44 SRH with scope and /06 and my wife shot her 357. It was not to bad in the morning but temps went up to 96 with heat index at 117, we had the 22-250 and 270 and 340 and we said later until it cools off a bit.

I shoot a lot of SA surplus (R1M1) when in the US & it's as accurate as anything else through the L1A1 & FAL.
