Well, I bought a Crimson Trace laser sight for my Ruger LCP today. Easy installation and adjustments. I've already noted that sometimes when I grip the gun I fail to activate the switch so I'll have to play with that. The button falls right in the finger joint on this rather small grip. With a bright sun behind me and a light colored background the dot was visible at 20' or so, if a little harder to pick up. In any shade, or indoors, its VERY easy to see. I already like the fact that I can see exactly where the gun is pointing. I'll give a shooting report as soon as I get another chance to get to the range.

Pkslinger, sounds like a great addition. I await your range report.

Tried the laser sight at the range today. Very bright sunshine and a black target made it hard to see but every time a cloud blew over it was fairly visible. I guess I plain misunderstood the directions for adjusting it because I took way too many rounds to get it hitting where I wanted it. I took it as moving the point-of-impact up/down and left/right but apparently they meant moving the dot. When I got that straightened out it was easy to adjust. I fired "2 shot groups" to get it zeroed. Shooting at about 15 yards, with my elbows resting on the bench, I got 3 shot groups around 1+", with the best at about 0.88". I figured that was pretty darn good for a pocket pistol!

Positives: I've mentioned before that I have trouble seeing iron sights due to my bifocals. Well I shot all these rounds with both eyes open, focusing on the target. Its easy to get on target fast. In the conditions where I would not be able to see the regular sights at all the laser really shines (slight pun intended!).

Negatives: Very hard to see in direct sunlight but even a cloud makes a huge difference. Also the way the laser attaches to the pistol caused it to hurt my trigger finger under recoil. There are some edges that need to be smoothed out, which I'll do after I finish typing this.

Overall I'm pretty tickled with this thing and would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their defensive handgun.

Pumpkin, is it a red laser? You should try a green laser once...

And just a note for (varmint-)hunting: when the target has hair, no problem, it even stops. But when the target has feathers, it's gone rather soon...

and for your info: lasers are no longer allowed in Belgium. Somehow 'they' say that a laser makes a weapon concealed...

I always wonder how the legislative peoples pull a law out of the air.

Anyhow, Pumps, if the laser diode is easy to access,
changing the diode with an old DVD writer laser WILL make the laser dot visible even in bright day light.
Them dvd red laser are 635nm 1000mW variety!!

Heck, save bullets and BURN em targets Razz

Shocked wtf Them people in your country that write and pass the laws like gelandgen said should get their head out of their a$$.

Yup like gelandgen says you can remove most diodes from a dvd burner and transplant it to your scope. It does take very delicate hands to do so and most scopes have a small pot that you can tweak the power up a little bit. Most pots in scopes are under epoxy to prevent this but it can be done if your careful.

pumpkin would it not have been easier to clamp pistol to something and put the lazer dot to where the iron sights are???
if you know that your sights work pretty good at say 25yrds it shoud be easy enough to do.

Elvis, I did do that before I went to the range but it need a lot more adjusting after shooting. I'm not 100% sure why. Possibly the unit wasn't mounted tight enough originally. There are some tiny screws in this thing and I didn't want to strip them. I tightened it at the range, even though I couldn't detect any movement. I've already got an idea for a cheap, simple, way to clamp it to make the adjustments next time. The next time being when I settle on a carry ammo.

I don't think the air is where they pull these laws out of.

Here's a pic of the best 3 shot group. After that I adjust the sight to get it better centered. You can see part of the last group at the edge of the photo.
