Woohoo!
Got my first letter and pics from the kid.
Good news: made SL first week- told ya! He carries the colors and the weight of his squad so...Also in for M16 trainin', playing with frags, all kinda boom and bang, gas chamber and obstacle courses too. He's already very tactically inclined with a good eye/hold for long range too so he's gonna ace all that markmanship stuff.
Lesser note: shin splints, ankle and achillies pain from runnin'. Yikes! Doc's gonna patch him up then it's GTG.
Weird note: the weather is NUTS out there...I mean it's fully crazy from how he describes it....
Go Bubba, Hooah!

Hmmm ...
Bushy has the bullets pointed out and is an offensive posture. He is ready to take on all comer!
Stovey, your rounds are pointed inward - the best I can put it is a self-destruct posture. I'd watch out where you stick that thumb!

I'm takin you both into the woods for a whoopin!!! Skylarkin hooligans! Who want's to be first? NO let me decide.....HHhhhmmmmmm....should make you do some push-ups and see who's more inclined to recite the general orders.....by number. Need a grinder in the woods, maybe some burn-pile jumping or choker-setter relays up the hill will do. Quit playin with your food and takin pictures of it. We don't wanna see your nose pores, and get some sun for cryin out loud!!

Slim- aint the first time I've been told that.
Mr. Bushers...um, uh, Yikes.
Suz- I claim first beatin'. I can work a landing chasing log's and cuttin' chokers. Gimme a week and I'll be ready for riggin' in the pits and sendin' up turns- need ta get new cork's first. First check goes fer them.

I just noticed that...you got nice eye's too mister! I mean that in a manly way.
Not on the landing, ya cut 'em loose up there. Chokers are set by riggers in the pit, over the side.

I used to set them. In the "pit"? I had to drag the choker and wire rope down the side of a ridge (read "ravine[cliff])...

Riggers- over the side.
Chasers- on the landing.
Either or, tough and DANGEROUS work man.
I wanna move back to Colville. I miss it up there. That's my "real" home. Had 8 acers up there w/ a home, had to sell it off when folks passed due to debts against the estate.- my legacy, poof! Gone. Didnt have the means to pay off all their debt and stave off the collectors...it was gnarly.
