Hey, Dawgdad, how am I supposed to catch up?!?!? Oh BTW, I shot a 10-shot group prone with a bi-pod with the latest 75gr Hornady A-Max load yesterday at 250 yards that measured .75MOA. Time to take that to 500 yards.

Excellent shooting, Slim. I sure would like to find a place to shoot 500 yards.

EDIT: Ooops misread that as .75 inches (would that be 0.3 MOA ?)
Anyway - Very good shooting. Dead varmint in any case.

I am getting real old and a good indication of that is that I am not getting a new gun for Christmas but I am selling them off. With the gun laws in Canada (especially Québec province) I do not want my wife to be stuck with all these guns that she has only 30 days to dispose off or that they will be confiscated and sent to destruction, when I am not around anymore. My wife does not have a license to acquire and possess guns of any kind, she is not a shooter nor a hunter. I started disposing of them three years ago and last year I disposed of 42 and I now have only seven left and they are presents from my friends or my children and that is what we call sentimental reasons to keep them.

Happy holidays to all you young ones and please do put one on the rack for me and use it at the range when summer comes. I will be watching from behind you in the shadow.

eeyouelder, you are very generous and its obvious you appreciate firearms. Its good you passed them on so they can continue in service for others. My uncle didn't do that and the state took over his entire collection. Enjoy the Sunsets!!

Ok I bought the Savage 93r .17 camo rig. It had a good price on it and I traded in my 10-22, which I hated. (accuracy on it was never) Anyway it's cool, has a heavy barrel I might just re-stock it into a better looking thingy. It has to be worthy tho. The muzzel crown looks chattered....what's with that? I'll take photos later.

eeyouelder!!! Cheers

I hope for your sake the muzzle crown did not get hammered cleaning the gun . I think if not mistaken, on that model the bolt comes out after you pull on the trigger . These guns are not to be cleaned often.

Only time will tell if I'm lucky enough to get a new 10-22 barrel.

I'm a lucky guy! Wife went to Cabela's and got a stainless flute Shooter's Ridge Barrel just for me. I will not got to work on it until after the New Year. Will post before and after pictures then plus improvement on the range.

My present to me was a used Bersa .380. It looks like it was never fired. I did some shooting with it on Thursday and stopped a chicken feed raid by a opossum that same night. While it isn't the fanciest of pistols, so far it's very reliable and accurate. It really fits my hand nicely. I couldn't pass it up when I saw the $200 price tag. I also saw a used Marlin 30-30 at the gun shop that is in need of some TLC. I'm considering going back to rescue that one. LOL!

This year it was a pellet pistol. One of the new Benjamin Marauder Pistols is now residing at my house. Good for small critters in places where you don't want to make a lot of noise. I think it will be good on ground squirrels out to about 50 yds. Have only shot paper with it at this time.

How far are you willing to drive? There are several 600 yard ranges in New England and they have 20 round prone matches where you could shoot any rifle any sight using a sling - also F-class matches where you can use a bipod.

Well, I am in the extreme NW corner of MA. I was thinking that my best bet would be finding a range in northern NY or southern VT.
I have to find a job first before I spend time (and money) on this. Maybe I'll get the chance to do some long range woodchuck shooting in VT in the spring - if the coyotes haven't driven them all into the woods.
PS - What / where are some of these ranges?

I sort of got myself a "new" gun.

I didn't buy a new gun myself, but, due to the past embarrasing "bloompfth" my 300 Whisper is no longer shooting ok.
So, I chopped off 4 inches off the barrel from 24 inch to 20.. So far, it groups very nice at 50 meters target (touching holes)
but I still got to work a bit more for it to get as good as it was before the "blooompft" incidence (one ragged hole).
I am having a great fun trying Very Happy

Still trying to decide on a varmint rifle yet, so I guess it's not for Christmas anymore.
