Fine for the stock scope that came with. I mounted a very heavy scope in the stock rings and bases. It lasted as long as it did. 3rd pic clearly shows big burr on recoil lug/cross-slot from battering.
Another thing I forgot to mention was the rings cross-bolts had round shanks, not square, that did not help any either.
New stuff's on the way. I predict no more issues now that I'll have matching goodies up to the task.

Weaver Grand Slam bases and rings. Rings have integral re-coil lugs. Torx screws throughout on bases and rings. All steel. If these come loose I'm giving up and taking it to a shop to have the scope mounted.
After I deburred the rings I had the scope loosely mounted to level and set eye relief. Got a call, came back to it, yanked the bungeed dust covers off and SCRRRRRITCH! , scratched the sope.
My neighbors now think I was a sailor in another life. Good grief I'm an idiot.
Well- now I have an excuse to urban-cammo the thing.

Oh, BTW, if anyone knows of a paint I can use to touch up the scope, lemme know.
Or maybe I should just quit while I'm ahead.

How do you scratch as scope with the caps? Maybe Bussy is right about staying off the sauce. You might try Krylon's Fusion paint. You can get at Walmart. Its supposed to stick really well. Not sure about color matching. You may have to paint the entire scope. That's why you may want to leave well enough along.
