fnuser, will you use the powders made for pistol or powders had for the .223 like TAC?

I was getting 2440 fps out of my 16-inch barrel with 77gr SMK.

4895 is a good powder for 223 also. when do you think you will have it together for a test run?

I'm wondering how IMR 8208 XBR would work with that bullet.

I just started trying the 8208 for the .223 with the 69 grain Nosler BTHP. Too early to tell have only tried a couple loads with it My buddy is using it in his AR with the 77 grain sierra bthp and has had very good results

I'm very interested if it is clean and easy to load I find that to be the draw back with alot of ball powders and usually ignore the dirty part in bolt guns but I think it may be a bigger factor in semi's

I got an e.o.p. upper and chrome bolt assy from rock river still researching the best answer for a barrel so far this seams to be where most of the $$$ will go. $600+ after I get a blank contoured from shilen and have it fluted locally the reamer is another $200 Both the barrel and reamer could be hitches in the time factor. Here is an interesting wildcat I'd like to learn more on. Its a 6.8 SPC necked down to 6.5 or 6.3. I like those numbers!

Thanks slim, That was an interesting read, I especially liked the photo that compared it to the .300 Whisper, that really puts it in scale, also the picture from the top down looking in the mag. I'm pretty sure that even a .222 based wildcat would leave enough mag for an 85g but I just can't justify giving up the volume. Did you recognise what kind of magazine he was using?
