I love it and hope other states follow along. "Racial profiling"?? BAH! How many blue-eyed, blonde Swedes are sneaking in across the US/Mexico border?

I don't know but I do know that it is not limited to Mexicans.
There are Hindi and near eastern nationals that use Mexico as an entrance point. There are others that use the Canadian border too.

In my opinion, the law will never stand it's first court challenge. In addition, if there is no racial profiling, as stupid as that is, they will be obligated to ask all blue eyed blonds for proof of citizenship which is stupid considering that at least 95% of the problem comes from south of our border and the percentage of blue eyed blonds in that crowd is close to zero. How many of ya'll carry your proof of citizenship with you?

The way it is now, the Mexicans cross our border illegally and when caught, if they aren't wanted for some crime other than entering illegally, they're sent back to Mexico with no other consequences. There is a lot of unused desert in Arizona and a sheriff (I forget his name) who uses it along with tents and concertina wire to house convicts. They ought to let the illegal border crossers spend some time in a similar facility before being shipped back to Mexico.

Illegal aliens are a huge drain on our economy. They use our schools and medical facilities without paying. We have to pay Border Patrol agents to risk their lives tracking them down and capturing them and even rescuing them when they get lost in the desert and yet our leaders are so stupid as to let it continue. If the flow of money out of our country and the influx of illegals and drugs into our country can't be stopped any other way, they ought to comprehensively search EVERY LAST person or vehicle going into or coming from Mexico for a few years. Yes, such searches would really ball things up at the border but would save our country money and without our dollars going to Mexico, it might motivate the Mexican government to take a bit more interest in the problem.

Do you know that a non Mexican citizen is not allowed to own property within 200 kilometers of the Mexican coastline; lease yes, own no. At the same time, non US citizens can own property anywhere in the USA.

If you think it's hard for a Mexican to work in the USA, believe it or not it's harder for a US citizen to legally work in Mexico. In addition, though Mexican doctors can become licensed to practice in the USA, a physician trained in the USA can never be licensed to practice medicine in Mexico because they didn't go to school there. Does that mean Mexican doctors are better; not really.

I guess I'm done...

Grummie that last statement, only because I have experience with it, can be argued. I worked for an orthodontist in Tucson Az., who spent a lot of time in Mexico and had lots of friends there. He was not Mexican but he loved the people and spent lots of his leisure time there. Mexican doctor friends of his would set him up with a place to stay while he did his carousing there. In return he would help Mexican doctors (who wanted to practice in the USA) get further schooling in the profession, to be able to pass their board exams. They were not qualified to practice in the USA, without passing the board exams, and in order to do that they had to go back to school. Most of the ones I met were so bad at speaking technical terminology that they would drop out.
The point you made about an American citizen practicing medicine in Mexico, dunno about that one either because there are lots of American doctors practicing in Mexico. Ever heard of Doctors Without Borders? No they are not paid, they are volunteers. But if you want to practice medicine in Mexico it is a very lengthy application process, you can do it but the process takes years of applications. Whereas in the USA you need to pass a board exam and then the citizenship thingy would probably be a barrier too.

Just as a follow-up little tid-bit on my attitude towards Mexican border crossings, a good friend of mine Phil Krentz, his brother (Robby) was murdered a few weeks ago. You might have seen it on the national news (if you still believe in the national news, I don't) he was out checking stock tanks, radioed in to his dad that he found an illegal, and told his pappy to call border patrol. Found him dead on his ATV (still running) and the guy shot his dog, foot prints lead 20 miles to Mexico. A day before that, his dad called border patrol about some aliens on the property, they came out and got em, along with some drugs they were smuggling in. When Robby was shot (the next day) it was in retaliation to the drugs being captured. Phil and his family have a beautiful huge place that covers something like 30-35,000 acres, the family has been there forever, best place in Az. to go hunting too. Robby is gone, and for no reason. Whataya wanna bet they're wearin guns now?!?!

I hate remembering

Mount .50 caliber MGs on towers with sensors evenly spaced along the border that will allow it to shoot anything going north and not shoot anything going south. Problem solved...

The new AZ law doesn't require proof of citizenship, it requires proof of LEGAL RESIDENCE. I haven't studied the whole thing but near as I can tell it takes the existing FEDERAL laws and allows the state/local law enforcement to use them better.

Kinda hard to complain when all they are doing is enforcing existing laws.

I hope they push it to the limits. We need more states to adopt stiffer laws on immigration. Sorry to hear about your friend Suz...

Here's the way it is in regards to the practice of medicine in Mexico. First of all, they have 6 years of grade school; not 8 and their "high school" is also abbreviated. This means a Mexican can be in medical school at age 16. Mexico is also corrupt from top to bottom and it's the usual thing to cheat in school. Since a lot of Mexicans use cheating or relied on old tests to get through medical school, they're very handicapped when they have to take a proctored test where cheating is prevented. That isn't to say there aren't many excellent doctors in Mexico but there are also many poor ones.

The only way to legally practice medicine in Mexico is to go to school there, do 6 months to a year of "social service" (i.e., free service for the government) and take their professional exam and that would be in Spanish. In addition, if you're a U.S. citizen that has jumped through all these hoops, you will also have to get an attorney and sue the Mexican government for the right to practice there. Decades ago it was found through the Mexican legal system that someone who had gone through all the hoops couldn't be legally denied a license but you'll still need to sue for the privilege.

Yea, I know about Doctors without Borders, Medicins Sans Fronteras, or whatever you wish to call them. They are not legally practicing in Mexico though unless they try to collect money for their services, they'll never be prosecuted. Also, if you like, you can walk into a Mexican pharmacy and buy pretty much any medicine you like without a prescription (narcotics excluded which are very tightly controlled) if you know the name of it; illegal as well but the practice isn't prosecuted.

As the Latin saying goes, "rules are for your enemies." You become their enemy when you invade their turf by making money on something like the practice of medicine in Mexico.
