great use for lastnights left over roast. Mince up leftover roast we usually use mutton for this but other meats are just as good. add half cup of sultanas some tomato sauce or similar till its damp can add onion or garlic etc if you like put this in botton of casserole dish or meat dish or camp oven etc .cook and mash potatoes enough to cover the meat about 1inch thick smooth this out then take a fork and add twirlies to the surface it looks good and goes chrispy. add a little cheese too if you like. bake till spuds start to darken on top. if you cook in a glass pirex dish etc you will see liquid in the meat bubbling and thats a good indication its ready. thats it. simply, easy and yum. dont forget to have a cold beer or six on hand to have with it.

Elvis....you are a champion mate.

Reading this bought back memories of my long lost childhood when Mum would cook up a Shepherds Pie with very similar ingredients.

Another way of using those leftovers is to make Bubble and Squeak. Cut vegetables, meat etc into small (1/2") cubes, a little oil in the fry pan and fry the lot up. Makes an awesome breakfast.

Cheers, Vince

You usually find sultanas and/or raisins in fruit bread Suz.

We make something similar but instead of mashed potatoes on top we put some cornbread mixture with creamed corn in it and masa harina flour (what tortillas are made of). It goes good with salsa. I like beef stew with a square of cornbread in it, so I tried some sheppard's pie this way and it's wonderful. It can make a mess in the oven though because the cornbread takes a while to cook and the sauce starts bubbling over. Use a cookie pan under it to catch the drips, I have a pizza pan that I use for this.
