Hi guys.
Glad to be back.

As I say, I went to hunting property on Christmas day, it was raining here in this part of the great big land of Oz.
The property is located 650km away from home and the last 200km is dirt track unsealed road.

As it happen, the road were just being graded, it was raining for the past 24 hours so the road were slippery.
I have only about 30km to go and I was travelling maybe about 30km/h (15mph?) as it happened.
The car just spun around and slide to the side of the road s-l-o-w-l-y..
The right tyre caught on the road side ditch and the car just ever so slowly tip over.

Everybody (wife, my two daughters and me) are alright but all the gears in the car were scrambled.

It was 120km away from the nearest place my phone would work.
The nearest farm is maybe about 15 km away..
It was Christmas day, and it was raining.
The chance of discovery is slim.

Luckily there is a farmer family going out for Christmas lunch and saw us.
They kindly gave us a hand (thanks again Mark) to flip the car back to its wheel so I could go to our destination.

It was an exciting time!!

I hope no one get the same experience!!

Oh, a few hours after that, the sun is shining and I had great time chasing and shoot goats and rabbits..

But you know what I notice in this picture Gelan, you are more prepared then some people I have known, in that you atleast have a Jerry Can of fuel there.

Gelan, you are a man after my own heart. Car flips over, gear poors out, raining, muddy, and you STILL go hunting.

I LIKE IT! Very Happy

That wasn't fun at all!! You were so lucky to come out of it without a limp. And you still went hunting? (Like Tcknight) you da man! They build roads like that in Arizona too, the crown of the hiway is in the middle of the road (even the paved ones in Az.) because they don't have enough rain to warrant rain gutters, and I've also seen (in Tucson especially) roads in town that are the opposite, the road is shaped like a canal and when it rains hard they're so full of water you have avoid them. Well that musta been really slick to do that to ya. Anyway that musta been your Merry Christmas present from someone lookin out for ya, or were they gunnin for ya?

Equally important...

You got it out of the vehicle 'fore it could spill, and away from ignition sources....

Thanks guys.. I am also glad that everybody is OK.
I thought that may give some thing to think about.
And the photo would show a bit of this soil called Australia.

Due to the fact that I am going to remote area, fuel water and food is definitely in the list of must take.
Beside the fuel cans, I also got a 30L water, a small stove and plenty of food.

The fuel cans (the large 20L and the smaller 10L) were the first out and away off the car!!
I opened the driver side door and push the cans out before I even get out through the back door.

Yeah, I still went out a huntin, been too long without, a little mishap shouldn't stop me from doing it.
Besides, what else can I do? sit around and mop?
I got plenty of ammo and a large place to fill with thunder and gunsmoke Very Happy
