I have always like the 700 Remington action, but I have a new Sweety, the Montana Rifle Co. 1999 action. It is a combination of the 98 and a pre 64 Winchester. Replaced that two piece Mdl 70 triggerguard with a 98 one piece anf left the 98 & 70s claw extractor and has the 70s bolt handle and safety. My new 458 Lott is looking pretty good, hope to have it finished by end of the month. The two 300 WSMs are great shooters and look good too, see photo alblum of the Bastogne Stocked gun, its going to Africa in April.

Man I wanna a 1895 LTD V soooooooooooooooooooooo bad!
Pop, I just saw one for sale on Gunbroker.com. Thats www.gunbroker.com
Go to the site and click on 1. Firearms 2. Rifle and then go to the search line and type in 45/70.
You should find it, and it was priced fairly decent. If I see another one I'll send you an e-mail.

My old favorite is a Ruger model 10-22. I also really like my Remington 700 Varment synthetic in .308. I recently got an HS PRecision in 300 Ultra and that is really nice.

Its nice to see lots of Ruger No1 users. Me, too. Its one of my favorite field rifles. I don't collect rifles as such, but, I do acquire some nice rifles to add to the hunting choices.
pre64 70s still get to me at gunshows or when a choice one comes in the gun store; I've managed to acquire all of the Featherweight calibers over the years.
Winchester's M71 has eluded me for two decades but at the recent Crossroads of the West in Phoenix, there was a Deluxe. It broke the bank, but, it came home with me and is far more accurate than I had anticipated.
Browning T Bolts have always been a favorite and I was happy to see Browning reintroducing it for next year.

My weakness is Deluxe Sakos...pre Garcia type.
Sako L461 Vixen Deluxe (have a.222 and a .222 Mag.)
Sako L579 Forester deluxe (have a .22/250, and I am thinking about getting it a .260 Rem. barrel too)

Welcome to the site edwennink.
I wish in hindsight I had bought my wife a .260 rather than her .243 ... not that shes ever had a problem killing anything with it.
