I'd rather deal with wolves than snakes. Just my opine. Love that 45/70. If we lived a hundred twenty years ago my rifle would still be a 45/70 lever action.

I live where there are both, and I have never heard of a pack of snakes chasing down and killing an elk or a human. A pair of snake boots and a .22 will suffice for snakes.
Since I hunt in woods that are already home to Mountain Lions and Grizzly Bears, I am used to not being at the top of the food chain anymore, but neither bears or cats hunt in packs or kills for the fun of it. As a friend of mine said when describing how they had listened to a pack working an elk herd in the night, the next morning the pack started circling closer and closer to them. He said, "that's the first time in my life I ever counted how many rounds we had between us" a few warning shots and several tense minutes while they backed out of the area followed.

We'll take all the snakes you have if you'll take all of our wolves.
