1 little 2 little 3 little chickens....Gamble's and Valley quail at Chez Stovepipe.
Super tight salt bush and mesquite kept these guys pretty safe for the most part. I got worked Tuesday going after this covey. It was 26 degrees F. too...way too cold fer this Calif Boy, brrrrr!
Marinate in Worschtershire, then browned in pan with a touch of oil then simmered in garlic/basil pasta sauce (rest of sauce goes on rice, not pic'd.)...yuuuumy! I leave the necks on for 'handles'. (fuzzy pic, sorry, had to compress it)

And ferget about next summer, too far off. Just save me some sausage and I'll be right over with some 'refreshments' and an apron. *grumble, growl, drool*
