I have been looking for a leather bandolier holster for my scoped BFR with a 10 1/2 inch barrel. I've looked around and haven't found much. Magnum Research has one but by the time I get it here it would cost about $175. I would like to keep it under $100. Anybody got any idea's where to look?

If you aren't completely fixed on leather, Cabelas has one in both black or camo www.cabelas.com/cabela...hasJS=true Priced at $29.95 in cordura.

Leather products are pretty pricey...maybe someone else knows of a good source.

Long Hunter.

Made for belt carry or chest carry, chest straps are extra though.

And no angry-hunting the ducks with the BFR!

I'm using a cammoed Uncle Mike's for my 7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk w/ red dot. I added an Uncle Mike's cartridge wallet holding twelve rounds to the strap just above the holster. I bought another nylon strap with a buckle and leave it attached to the holster to use a belt so the rig won't flop around. The empty rig weighs 8 ounces.

(Why does this camera always make my belly stick out?)

Since I normally hunt from stands or blinds here I just take the rig off after I get settled in the stand. Then I use the belt strap to secure it to the stand.

Nice lookin' rig by the way. Uncle Mike makes some half decent gear.

I've been using one of these Crackerjack holsters from Timely Accessories for carrying my Ruger Blackhawk while hunting. They fit great and hold the gun in place low across your chest. Mike Keenan owns the shop and if you give him a call, I'm sure he'd quote a price on exactly what you want. He's easy to work with and will add on retention straps or flaps as you like. Very reasonably priced for a custom holster.

I thought about using a duck but it wouldn't hold still when I wanted to holster the beast. I just got an email from Timely and he won't do a scoped holster with out the gun. There is no way I could bear sending the BFR away for any amount of time.

Well I broke down tonight and ordered a holster made specifically for the BFR. It's the only holster that is a true fit to the BFR with the long cylinder and the one I liked the best. My son would have liked a black one though....

Much nice, and less messy, than a duck holster. That's a wicked cool rig.

Lemme guess. A lil over 100$?

Good score Wiersy.

Be nice Vince - it seems Mike has died his beard the same color as yours.

I use an Uncle mikes shoulder holster rig for my 629 with a red dot.

I think you are going to really like the rig and the decision to go with the right tool for the job. We Scotts (me) tend to mess about with the $ till common sense gets us by the neck and forces us to go the right way. A nice tanned leather will wear and wear, besides, black is just a bottle of dye away.

I do like my cross draw and shoulder rigs for hunting, especially the shoulder rig for the big "pants draggers." I have little or no posterior, acording to my wife, and my little butt keeps me grabbing pants all day with a hip or belt rig and a heavy handgun. Nope, I do not like suspenders either.
Best,
Ed
