Sad situation . How come he has access to a handgun in the first place. Just more ammo for the anti's.
Man, 86, shoots daughter
86-year-old man, reportedly suffering from dementia, shot and killed his 63-year-old daughter in his north Pensacola home early Saturday morning, during what Escambia deputies are calling a tragic accident.
At 1:14 a.m., Escambia County emergency dispatchers received a call from a man who said he shot his sister inside his home in the first block of Monarch Lane.
When deputies arrived, Preston Lee Ezell, 86, was on the front porch of the home, and Kurnetta Ezell, 63, was found face down on the floor inside with a gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead at Sacred Heart Hospital.
According to a report, Preston Ezell told deputies he thought someone had broken into his home through a window and was arguing with his sister. That’s when he got his gun. When deputies arrived, he told them he didn’t mean to shoot his sister, and he asked them to get help.
Investigators later discovered that Kurnetta Ezell was actually Preston’s daughter; his sister had died years earlier.
Escambia County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Ted Roy said Preston Ezell appeared to be confused due to dementia.
Ezell was not arrested at the scene, and investigators are consulting with the State Attorney’s Office on how to proceed with the case, Roy said.

There's no law against stupid or crazy (for the most part). If there was the anti's would have been locked up long ago.
If it were'nt a gun it have been a knife, or a car, or.... we have 80+ year old's still driving out here and they don't stop till they mow over a dozen or more inocent bystatnders. It's rediculous.
There's pleny of blame to go around on this particular issue, and others, so I'm not gonna go there.
My thoughts go out to the family.

Well I just had to answer your question Bushmaster.
The family is doing the same thing most of "mine" are doing.......NOTHING!!!!! No letters, no phone calls "checking to see of you are still alive, HA HA" NOTHING!!! Very sad!!!
This is what it is, A very bad and most likely un-intended incident. I am not sure how you would be able to do anything to this man due to his advanced mental problems.

DS,
See this was a county incident, which sparked my memory.
Do you know Mike, a Sgt on the county SWAT team? He used to work at Great Guns now and then rebuilding or repairing CAS type guns.
Best,
Ed

Yep, that is him. Mike used to shoot Cowboy Silhouette with us at Hurlburt, when I was the match director there. Good guy, kinda quiet and a good shot to boot.
I would run into him now and then in the shop at Great Guns. I built most of my guns in Steve's shop there in Pensacola and in Destin when Steve had his shop here. Mike liked to work on old worn out lever guns, line the barrels, get a few parts and have them back in running order.
Best,
Ed
