I was able to trim a whole bunch of branches off the trees around the beaver pond. I figure as soon as I get the branches knocker down I'm sure to hit the ducks.

Speaking of waiting....quail opener is next weekend for me.
Got the 'cheap shot' all tuned up and ready. I even bought some bacon, again, in anticipation of gittin' some. "Again" means I ate the first two packs making BLT's the other night.
I have control issues.

Well they won again!!!!
We woke up to 19 degrees and 1 1/2 inches of snow and 20 mph wind this morning.
We left the boats home and went to jump ponds, I shot a wood duck, while we were directing the dog my son decided to stand on a log in the pond we were in..... can you see where this is going?
You guessed it he slipped off the log and right into the water. I wish I had a camera for that it was priceless there was ice floating all around as he was trying to stand up. I think the dog was even laughing at him. That pretty much put an end to our fun for the day.

It was an interesting day, it's usually me that gets wet. I figured I'd give him a break this morning and wait until he gets up to go chase birds.

Hey wiersy
Buddy of mine lives and works in the twin cities. Hunts over on the Mississippi. Already heard about the snow and wind. If it makes you feel better, all the other duck hunters were miserable too!
Never understood why you guys put up with that weather. In Mississippi, where I duck hunt, we quit after about 8:30 AM, change into shorts and tennis shoes and go fishin...

Brrrrrrrrr!
We are getting a little rain here mid week (what's that?) this week then temps go back to 57'ish in the AM and 80'ish in the afternoon.
Guzzler's and holes will fill up and the quail are gonna be scampering all over the bloody place. I can hardly sleep I'm so atwiterpated.

80 that's like unbearable. Usually we gradually work into winter......from high 90's to -35. You just don't want to jump into that to fast.
Winter gets kinda long but, we fill the time ice fishing and beer drinking.

I'm thinking you been living in the land of fruits and nuts just a bit to long, your getting soft in the head. We don't fish for ice, but we do have a tendency to drive on it.

There was only about 2 feet of ice.

I've been a little bored lately, my mind wanders when bored. And no insurance doesn't cover acts of stupidity. that's why I need a good 18 - 20 inches to take the truck out. That's what the 4 wheeler is for. Man now I can't wait to sit in the spear house with a couple of cold ones on ice...... no pun intended.
