good rifle finish

can anybody recommend a good, durable rifle finish? and where to have it applied? I want something to guard against rust, and be a matte finish.

Cerakote seems to be all the rage in the sniper/tactical world !!!
Do your homework on this one. Appears to be some would be coating experts trying to do it on the cheap. Get references and check them out!!! Shocked

Thanks. Will do. I've been thinking about that gunkote by brownells, I've heard its good, and just doing it myself that way I know its right, but I dont know if I have anything to "bake" the rifle in.

I've put Gunkote on a few rifles myself. It was easy to do and it has stood up really well. I think it is a good product.

If you’re considering going with something new......without a doubt make it stainless and synthetic!!!
You must however keep in mind that gun grade stainless will rust if not taken care of but it is way better than any coating.

As far as the do it yourself coatings, remember the prep work is just as important as the coating it self!!!
Know anyone that owns a pizza shop.......they got big ovens!!!

By the way, I have a Model Seven (stainless/synthetic) in 7mm-08.....Love it !!! Very Happy

I wish there is a reliable cerakote applicator here in Oz.
My first (and last) cerakote finish ended in disaster.
