Everyone has a soft spot for certain rifles. I've known several nimrods that have bought their 4th or 5th 30-06 just because they liked the rifle...not the calibration.
My weakness is the Ruger #1. Man talk about class!!!!
A close second is the marlin 1895 45-70 in the Limited V version. Man what I would not give to find one for a decent price!
What are your weaknesses?

For me it's Winchester in bolt and lever.
Browning in bolt action.
And lastly, Barrett and DPMS for the "others"

I prefer Winchester Model 70s, FN Mausers and Lyman muzzleloaders. All the best...

I love my Rugar #1, its a fine pretty rifle.
I also love Rem700's. The older ones are top notch usually in terms of fit and finish. Been fairly pleased with my M70 although I had to do some custom work on it to fix a sharp edge on the chamber that would scrape the brass.
Oh and I love the Browning "take down" .22's.

My two favorite rifles in my cabinet are my 22-250 in Rem 788 and my 45-70 in a Marlin 1895ss. I would not sell any of my collection of rifles but those two stand out. There are others ( rem 700's, parker hales, brownings.. etc) that are close but not as sweet as those two.................
Hmmmmmmmm I do not have any winchester rifles........ I wonder why......!

Ruger Ones are Number One , purtiest wood on a " factory " job
M98 is a close second
Wby DGR , even if it has a plastic stock
M88 Winchester
If money were no object wud be happy with either a Holland bolt gun or dubble rifle

Pop,
My favorite is any rifle in .458. I like the Marlin CB '94 in 45 long colt. It outshoots the 44 mag Marlin. (Buffalo Bore Ammo)
I am picking up my Marlin Limited V this month. I had to lay it away. $800.00 but worth it. Garret 540 grain for the dangerous stuff and Buffalo Bore 430 grain for anything else down to Deer. One shot drops.
I ran across a test the Military did on 45/70 Springfields. They proved to be effective at 3500 yards. This is the old trapdoor model. I love the round as my first big game rifle was a Springfield Trapdoor and while my buddies made fun of me when they "unsheathed" their Model 70's and 700's, I have helped them track their deer, and no one ever had to help me.
My favorite is going to be my elephant gun. The Marlin 1895 Limited V. (I am having some work done ie. forcing cone 11 degrees to handle the blunt ammo I mentioned. Nice pad and stress relieving on the barell etc.
Anyone laughing needs to go to Garret's web site and read about the part where the 45/70 penetrated deeper than the 458 Winchester Mag. (I also like that one in Model 70 Winchester.

It's hard to say which one is my favorite, If I had to choose which one stayed and whichs ones left, I'd pick my Ruger 77MKII in 26-06., It doesn't do everything but what it does it does well.
