Got 'Boomer' back home last night, after some drama with our local postal dork....long story, it's over.

So.....rejoice! Very Happy

First I want to say how well the gun was packed. Extermely nice touch!
It was wrapped in bubble wrap, then taped, then ditto that several more times. Then into a heavy-duty USPS Express box stuffed with craft paper and double taped all over. This thing was super well packed and I doubt even the Airlines could trash it. Took me several minutes of careful unwrapping to get the lil guy outta there...folks at my local shop I had it sent to were really eggin' me on to tear into it.
I don't think so kids, slooow and easy.

It was worth the careful unpacking time... it was like Xmas and everyone was full of ooh's and ahh's.

Here's a short list of stuff that was done, from memory (goodie list is at at home)-

Bushnell 2-6x32 scope

Custom Weigand 3-screw base

Burris Signature Z-rings

Custom brake- machined so nicely you can't even find the joint with a fingernail.

O/s locking basepin

Trigger job- no scale but it is NICE, very little take up for a trasnfer bar type and it snaps- clean. His classic 30oz job.

Lapped bore and nice shiny-looking chambers and throats!

The pawl's **CLACK** seems way more robust and got a few people's attentention. Not sure if anything was done there or not...but it sounds and engages very nicely

Dehorn of action body

David even re-set the indexes to zero after testing, nice touch. Word is it's grouping 2"@100y with standard factory stuff.

He was really hustling to get it back to me before I went on vacation and he really came through.

His attention to deatail and level of expertise shows.
He's a master of the fine art of Gun Smithing and, I'd recomend him to anyone.

This post is also significant in that I stumbled onto this sight Google'ing a grip for this gun.
Then saw David's Supreme Hunter and knew someday I'd have to pull the trigger on this project.

Many thanks to Huntingnut and D&T Custom Gunworks. Because of you I've got a wicked new pistol and many hearty laughs every day.

Guess it's all come full circle for me... thanks again, to all ya'll, very much.

-kevin.

(pardon the lint I just oiled it.....)

Thanks Mr. Slinger.

Had to pull it outta the safe last night just to look at it again...this is MINE. Smile

And, slowly rotate the cylinder to hear that *clawk-clawk-clawk* of the pawl.

Juuuust yummy... Razz

The scope is really nice. Sitting in my living room, which was not very well lit at the time, I was glassing some 'gulls on lamp posts 150y off and they were bright and well defined.

And gent I know is losing chickens to some pretty brave 'yotes he thinks.
Me thinks me and Boomer might have to come over for supper some evening soon....and for dezert? Some H110 with a super soft 240gr Nosler JHP topping.

I'm gettin giddy just thinking about some fur hats and mittens.... Very Happy

Ok, sorry for the long wait ... my press has been down due to some die issues.

Finally - Got Boomer out for some testing and a shakedown.
It was pretty dang hot and windy so I made do with what I had.
I also didn't have much time to shoot as there was a rim-fire contest hot on my heels and I had to clear out of the range on our sportmen's club property so.... here goes.

I stuck a target out at 100y just to see what I could see. It was nice being able to actually see the target again for a change.
I was high and right but the group was under 2" for two shots.

I moved it back to 50y as the target kept blowing away @ 100y and made my own stand from some stuff I brought from home. After a few adjustments POI was pretty close to POA and you could stack the hits almost on top of each other doing 3 shot strings. I let it cool some between strings and was waiting a long time between shots as the wind was really up. The barrel never got cold but I didn't let it get hot either and like shooting 3-shot strings w/ empty cases in alternate cylinders as the barrel stays a more consistent temp and does not heat-cycle as wildly.
50y is an ethical and realistic pistol hunting range but it's nice to know it's accurate and consistent out to 100y at least. And that will make it fun for long steel's.

I tested a couple loads and it really like my Nos 200gr JHP over 14.0 gr 800x in a PMC case with a Remington primer. The cases I used were identical in dim's and crimped with a LEE FCD.
I also tired a Nos 240gr over 14.0gr Blue Dot, same case and primer, as I had some Blue Dot powder left over and it liked that one too but this load is a little dirty and needs more powder to clean it up. (15 rounds total)
None of these primers showed any excess pressure and they are good, safe START loads.
The 800X was really clean w/ little soot and no ash. (15 rounds total)
I did not test my Nos 240gr JHP over 23gr of H110, same case and primer. But that one is pretty nasty for a start load and kind of overkill. I'm pulling the bullets on that batch of (15) and doing something milder with them since the pistol shoots so well.

The brake really takes the sting out of it and it does not jump off the rest half as much as it used to.
Nice.
Off-hand it's really good too.

Go about 30 rounds off 'till I was shut down and kicked off the range for the rim-fire contest. The RSO was really impressed with the pistol too.

Afterwards we had a BBQ and stuff and I displayed the gun in it's carry-case next to the entrance to the club house where the food was. Everyone loved it and Boomer got lot's of ooo's and aaah's. He's a hit with the club for sure and I kept having to wipe it down from all the fondling. I made it a point to tell them the brake is not part of the barrel as the seam is so tight you can barely pick it up with your fingernail, if at all. Of course everyone had to try the trigger.

Another satisfied customer. The D and T Custom Ruger Supreme Hunter was a dream pistol for me. Dreams do come true.
"Boomer" is a big hit on the range and off.

It's a new morning and I have to start over. I'm up to my second cup, but I doubt it will do any good. Whoever invented "snooze alarm" should be shot, drawn and quartered. When the alarm goes off... GET UP!! Don't reset the alarm for another 5 minutes. I don't even use an alarm clock anymore. I just naturally wake up at 0700. Get up, fed the barn cat, feed the horses. Then start my first cup. Wife reset the "snooze alarm 5 times this (0600) morning until I told her to get the hell up...Damn!!

That's it...Draw and quarter the idiot...
