I just happened to have the the handguns in the truck after we got done grocery shopping today. Hmmmm..... coincidence? So we stopped at the range for a little family fun. It was the first time that my wife got to shoot her pretty shiny pistol. She was having fun until a nice hot piece of brass decided to go where it shouldn't. HOT HOT HOT! I wish I had the video camera..... Laughing Laughing Laughing She must love to see me laugh cuz she did it three more times, what a great woman. She was actually hitting the target pretty consistently to, she didn't want to play with the hand cannon though. My daughter was doing very good with the 1911 especially for the first time shooting a pistol. I was able to shoot off a 2" post at 100 yards with the BFR it took three hits but it did it.....god I love that cannon. Now if I can get a deer to stand still while I bag the BFR. My son and I were playing tag with a pop can (NOT BEER Vince) at the base of the berm..... I won that game. I suppose I will have to bag his .450 to get it fine tuned.... But then he might beat me hmmmm, I'll have to think about that. All in all a lot of fun was had tonight, the family that shoots together stays together. Pistol Shooting LadysMan Angel

There's nothing as fun as shooting [except paintballing the neighbor's cat and /or neighbor or in Vince's case -drinking beer].

Smile Spemt the better part of Sunday with my son at the range. We went through a lot of ammo, we were able to shoot the 257 Weatherby and 7mm rem mag with out so much s an ouch but got to the 30-06 and 270 and couldn't stand the recoil. Of course shooting in a tannk top isn't the wisest move. Shocked

Hey Whittlin'...paintballin' the neighbours cat mate. Shocked Now that is my kinda fun.

In days gone by I would annoy the bejesus out of the neighbours cat with my air rifle. I'd wait til it settled down for a ZZZ in the sun and do my darnedest to hit it in the tail. When I managed a hit...we're talkin' about 30m range...it was an absolute scream to see the cat launch straight up in the air, land on all fours and look around thinkin' wtf Mad

Laughing Laughing

Cheers, Vince

Vince - I used to do the same thing when I was about 9 with a Red Ryder BB gun, the barn cat would lay underneath my grandpa's camper in the shade, I would thunk it with a BB and the cat would go up about 1ft and hit the bottom of the camper and then run off. My cousins and I used to shoot this old rooster with the BB gun only because he would always put us on the run, so we thought we would teach him a lesson, well, after a couple years of doing this - grandma decided it was time to throw him in the pot, when she was cleaning him she found a few BB's embedded - we got the whoopin' of our life from grandma - the fried chcken wasn't too bad either, tasted like spotted owl - my favorite!

Planning on going to the range this weekend again my brother and brother in law want to go with. Hope they bring enough ammo. I've almost got my supply replenished, I should have ever thing loaded back up tomorrow night. Of course I am going to have to go on a powder run.

Hit the range again but the mosquito's were a little on the hungry side. We has a deer walk out 35 yards down range while we were shooting the BFR's. It had to be deaf or suicidal. It would have been such a sweet shot...... It was in no hurry to leave the range either, when it was off to the side we let off another 20 rounds of 45-70 and 15 rounds of .450 Marlin before it finally wandered into the woods.

They get very smart very fast. That is one reason I like the little dumb ones, the other is they taste soooo good.

Mr. W reminds me of my tactical coach.

"ya kin bring any gun ya like as long as the caliber starts with a 4".

The backstops/hills around your place must have some mighty big holes.

Not to bad. I'm just trying to find an economical way to mine the lead.

I have a 6" Elm tree behind my house that has a hundred or so chunks in it.
I empty the smoke poles into it, use it for a quick recoil check with the pistols, and any time one shot therapy will work. I am surprised it is still alive, when it dies we are going to split it an get an actual count of the bullets.

There is no economical way to mine the lead mate....you will never get enough to make it a business proposition. But if you "mine" it for yourself, all it takes is a little hard work, a shovel and a sieve.

I used to wander up about 200m from the firing line at our pistol range and the cast projectiles were lying everywhere, just had to pick them up. But then again, we didn't have a stop butt that the boolits would slam into and bury themselves.

Dang it!!!! Sounds like to much work for me. For some reason I have yet to find a shovel that fits my hand, the Army had me try quite a few on for size but as a Tanker I really took a liking to the combat bulldozer.

The buggers out here had a pick and shovel that fitted me perfectly. Evil or Very Mad

On the few occasions that the Engineers would dig for us using their 'dozers, they created such a bloody mess that it was more work trying to refurbish and camouflage the ground than it was to dig ourselves.
