Yep- belive it or not.
Recovery is longer with full power stuff.
It's easy with my combat loads.
Pie plates and SEB's @ 10/15y aint gotta chance.
My coach hates it when I bring that.
He's a 1911 die hard and there's nothing else as far he's concerned.
I like 'em all!

My brother called me this evening to tell me about CCW class layed on for the National Guard soldiers, at a reduced price. It was for the Minnesota and Utah CCW, the only problem is the class was at 5:30 and her called at 5:10. The class was about 45 miles away. I think he called just to mess with me. I will get even.

Eh, I am not going to argue only cause I know I am right.
Kind of like the Mattel story of the Vietnam war. You still have troops that swear up and down they had Mattel marked plastic parts on their M16's even though Mattel was never issued any sort of contract for the M16.

D...You can quote me all the statistics and hoohaa you want, I do know our 1911's had different sights. We were considered a "forward deployed unit" so when new stuff came out we were on the top of the list for issue. We got to do testing of equipment for the govt they even had dept of defense engineers come out and study the modifications we made to our Bradleys ultimately resulting in M2A2 ODS models. |
OK D tell me then where does your US Army knowledge base come from?
Not every thing in the Army's arsenal is published in black and white for public viewing. Since the Mods were done to our 1911's prior to my getting assigned to that unit I can only speculate as to the reasons why.
I haven't seen sights like that on military 1911's because we turned them in when the new Beretta's were issued and I never came across issue 1911 sidearms again.
In these days of media coverage of the military John Q Citizen think they know all about the military. There are a lot of items that you may see as part of a weapon or weapon system that the composition or mechanics are not public knowledge.
Sorry D it's not that your wrong just not everything is public knowledge.

You mean Mattel didn't make those early sorry a$$ M16s.
I was in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1986. None of the ships or shore stations that I served at had any other .45 ACP pistols with sights other then the ones that Big D posted. Not even the Seals. After the Beretta was adopted the Seals did get a "special issue" .45 ACP, but it wasn't from Colt. And it certainly wasn't a secret...
Small arms, especially short arms were never a secret. All contracts to fire arms manufacturers were public record. No "secret" handguns were ever issued. When the Seals and other "special forces" changed handgun styles it was public knowledge...In fact...Thinking back in history...At no time did the military ever purchase or contract for a short arm that wasn't already in the hands of the civilian world. Long arms maybe, but not short arms...
