This has probably been discussed before, but who makes a reasonably priced good rifle and which caliber is preferred??
Thanks, J~

I would choose the HMR over the HM2 (Mach2) simply because of its ballistics. I don't have a crystal ball, but I think the HM2 will fade away eventually in favor of the faster HMR.
As to the rifle to pick...I would take a hard look at Savage. They have really been coming on strong and would be worth considering.

I agree with you guys the 17HMR, but still wanted some feedback.
I also thought of Savage. My neighbor has a Marlin that's pretty nice looking and he's been slamming g-hogs all summer with it!
I'm going to check around on prices.
221, I think I'll buy two Cooper's so I have a spare for when the barrell heats up on the first one!
Thanks for the input guys. J~

Thanks whittling, I will also check the Henry out.
I like that it says on their website made in America!

Maybe you missed the "reasonably priced" part of that first post...
I understand that Coopers are excellent rifles but with almost $1600 price tag I could buy several Marlins, Savages, etc. Not to mention a good scope and lots of ammo.
