I just picked a J.C. Higgins .22 bolt action for $50 .Shoots good .I'll post pics later.

Dig the MC stock.
Lil elbow grease and ya got yerself a classic shooter and a looker for sure!
And it's a bolt-action, the vermin get all the oompfh out the end of the barrel.

I did notice that it had a unique safety feature.The first cartridge will load from the follower easily and pain free .But if the gun isn't fired the next round won't chamber into the follower.

I think I'll try to refinish/restore the stock and then maybe add a cheap old scope .It already has grooves for a scope.

I am looking at a similar rifle at a local gun shop for $59.00. It does not have a grooved receiver for scope rings, but is factory drilled for a side scope mount. The problem with the rifle is a bobby pin protrusion at the top of the receiver over the closed bolt that helps to feed rounds into the chamber. When that bobby pin breaks, it costs a lot of money to replace it. Take care...
