I have quite a bit of my Dad's stuff from the Navy in WWII.

I believe that the best item that I have is the last GQ of the War in the Pacific that my Dad pulled from the Ship's board.

It is interesting by itself, but being the last GQ of the War makes it even more important.

I have Dad's WW2 USAAF flying helmet and shoulder holster for a 1911. My brother has his knife, an M3 if I remember right. Dad also kept his records and some of his orders, along with two diaries. We have various insignia from his uniforms too; pilot wings, Air Medal, etc.

I would love it if my grandfather would give me his stuff from WWII, he got a lot of stuff from the Germans, but as I am the girl I won't get any of it. Even though I have the history degree it will still go to the boys who really don't care.

I have my other grandpa's stuff including the metal social secrity card, and some of his pins.

My favorit things are my grandmother's. She kept most of her work cards from when she was in the German camps. Great teaching aids to get kids to understand that the camps happened to real people and not all of them were Jewish.

Keep saving the past, it's going fst.

I wear one of my Dad's Dog Tags with a Cross the he soldered on it.
I believe that my Grandma gave it to him before he was deployed.
Along with all the other information , the date 1944 is also there.

I thought of this thread when I talked to Mom today. She just received Dad's dog tags and some other items of his from one of my cousins. He found them in his father's stuff recently after my Uncle passed away. I plan to go see what Mom has this weekend. Dad flew B-26s in Europe.

In addition to Dad's stuff Mom told me that she has some new info on her brother, who won the Navy Cross during WW2. He flew TBMs and was at Leyte Gulf.

I hope my family will treasure my trophies. I have a couple of 25 dinar bills with Sadam's face on them from Desert Storm era. We had a video camera and filmed when we weren't engaging, there is some good footage on there. A couple of crests from republican guard berets. A lot of digital pictures from OIF a few uniforms, I still have the boot knife I carried both times. And the most treasured prize is the k-bar knife that my brother used the first time he deployed to OIF and gave to me to carry when he found out that I was headed over there. I was going to pass it back to him but we ended up there at the same time. I always wanted to to go see him but it was just to dangerous where we were. I realy hope my family can cherish my treasures when I'm gone.
