Vince, Perhaps have a gunsmith install a drill and tap mount? Dimitri

That is easy enough...I can actually make and attach a mount myself...then all I need do is buy the rings. I plan on visiting one of my favourite gunshops here in the next few days...they have a "buggery box" with all different second hand mounts and rings. Hopefully they will have something there that will do the job...save me a bit of work cause I only have handtools. Last mount I made was from aluminium and it was all "measure and file" work.

Vince,

You have more patience then I do. I don't know if I could stand filing something to finished size like that.

Well mate...when you don't have a lathe or mil, then you have no other choice.

I enjoy doing it though...gives me a sense of achievement when I am finished. Filing flat surfaces is easy enough...its the concave grooves/channels that I have difficulty with. Getting them just right is hard work.

No doubt Vince, its a very fine achievement to do something like that. A hands on work like that is something that not everyone can do. I never had the hand/eye/thinking ability to do anything too fine detailed by hand, be it with files or wood chisels, that is one area where my dad is better then everyone else in the family. Smile

I think its and older generation thing mate...necessity is the mother of invention. When I was a young fella we didn't have much in the way of engineering tools. They were out there, but only the engineering shops had them. All we even had was a few chisels and files. If you wanted something you either made it or went without.

I've often thought of getting a milling machine, but these days I wouldn't use it as much as I would have. Not worth the expense now.

Oh well...I have me ruler and me files...that will keep me out of trouble.

Well guys, after fiddling with the front scope mount to get it lined up right here is the scope:

Just waiting on the rear sight that the mail service doesn't seem to have the ability to deliver, and I'll be attaching it and reattaching the front site and I'll be good to go.

Are you having trouble sourcing the rear site mate, or is the mailman just mucking you about?

I couldn't find it that is why I decided to make a Enforcer Clone, as I could make the scope rings and wait around till the appropriate Parker Hale PH5E/4 Sight came around which is the proper one for the Enforcer Police Marksman Rifle due to it being made with more clearance to not get in the way of the scope rings when installed, the aperture is removed then however but it maintains zero when reinstalled due to the design.

Anyways I happened to joke on another board if a member had a spare he'd sell me and he did, so for 225$ USD I had one in the mail system. Actually I have not seen a picture of the sight but I trust the nice British fellow to not have lied about the condition of the sight.

So now I've had Customs hold onto it for 5 days, now Canada Post for another 6 days, and I'm told I should expect it to come in on Tuesday. Funny thing is it was mailed May 5th from England, and arrived in Canada for Customs to handle it May 7th. So for practical purposes it took Royal mail a day to get it to Canada, at a location a mere 20 minute drive from me. But it has taken 11+ days on this side of the world and it still has not gotten to me. Sad

What do you expect mate. Heaven forbid that you would actually want to import piece of a firearm...goodness me, it could be a part of a WMD !!!

If its any consolation mate...our Customs Service and Australia Post are no better. At one time Australia Post put out an edict that basically said... "Australia Post will not carry any firearm or part thereof, or anything that can be used as part of a firearm". That meant nothing, not a damned thing, that could be even remotely connected with firearms would go through the mail, and it was up to the interpretation of the "on the spot" Inspector. And all this under the guise of "protecting their workers from injury". Total bullsh1t.

We aussies fixed that one though. Australia Post is a point of contact for payments for many many different companies, where you could pay your electricity bill, car registration, gas bill, etc etc etc...and they get quite a hefty commission for this. Various firearms related organizations put out a note to the "world" saying...."if you are not happy with the way Australia Post is treating you as a firearms owner, then don't give them your custom....don't pay your bills through them."

Didn't take too long, a letter campaign to Australia Post by firearms owners and then the drop in revenue from those who stopped using them for paying their bills quickly convinced them that they had maybe made an error in judgement.

Their decision was quickly rescinded.

I have brought in stuff from the US (Edit: Firearm parts, Military Equipment and Supplies etc) that seems to go through like it was nothing, in and out in a day at the Customs office. This is the first time I had a package come in from England and its taking very long. I know getting letters from England are just about as quick as sending a letter inside the Province. 3 days from England to my home, just as it took 3 days to get a letter from Toronto to the other city I was living in with work. Smile

By the way good on you guys setting your Postal Service straight. Heaven forbid you sent a piece of steel through the mail and it happened to jump out of the box and scare people! Rolling Eyes
