It's great to have a guy like Wayne representing our interests. What I don't understand is why he can't completely outmaneuver a guy like the Governor who only spouts lies and misinformation that the public believes.
Instead of saying "these ARs are not functionally different from other guns" he needs to say "even though these ARs look exactly like the assault weapons police can use, they do not spray bullets, are not fully-automatic, they one shoot one bullet at a time"... You get the picture. The NRA needs to hire a marketing firm to teach Wayne how to make statements that a NON gun person can understand and take to the voting booth.
I maintain that it's hard to understand the points Wayne makes. But what really burns me is that people like the governor can get away with such bald face lies on public forums. At least Wayne called him on it...too bad he could make that fact clear. BJ

I have said for a long time the NRA needs a PR person to help with this sort of thing!!!

I am all for anything that helps.
Do we need to start a writing campaign to Wayne?

LaPierre isn't good at this stuff - the NRA needs a more media savvy mouthpiece for these occasions.

The NRA has such a person and he is a director. Have you never seen the guitar player get sideways with a smat butt like Opra? He is a pretty smart fella and is real quick to level a liar.

Besides, the Nuge can play a fair guitar.

Can't fault Ted for his beliefs but he isn't exactly going to bring Mr & Mrs America back into the fold.
Sarah Palin would be a good choice.

Ted scares me and I'm not afraid to say it. He has some freaky ideas or rather good ideas that he presents in a freaky way. I agree that most people won't want to go along with him.

First 31 isn't old. Second he made me even more nervouse when I was young. Yes he's an energetic speaker, yes he has good points, yes he rocks like no one else, Damn Yankees not withstanding, but he also can come across as a radical and because of that people tend to distance themselves from him. If he could at least crank it back from 11, ok 15, and down to 8 more people would be willing to acknowldge him and not just say he's a crack pot. He's theory on hunting that he gave on one of his shows was great, those who don't hunt just have hired assassens killing their food. But having a man who looks like he just crawled down the mountain saying don't worry I taught the police how to shoot, after his arrest for shoting an arrow into his guitare, just won't make a lot of people agree with him.

Tink,
I have considerable experience in the political process. You are going to have to come to grips with what is needed to fight the battle that is coming. Your best weapon is the light of day and fear. Convince a politician that you will illuminate his activity and he fears you, go for his throat and he fears you, act like a nut while doing both and he is mortally afraid of you. When a politician becomes convinced that there are real consequences to his acts he will stop assailing your freedoms.
Do you think the current congress is sitting on its hands about gun control because it loves you? No, it fears you!
When you have them by the nads they will follow. That is how you get things done, not by wringing hands, crying and sitting in the dark, hoping no one will notice you, while you wish for better times.
Stand up, beat your chest, yell your name and say; "I am a gun owner and I will kick the crap out of you." The weasels will run for the dark.
Ted is doing just that and he is a good deal smarter than you give him credit for. By the by, who cares if "people tend to distance themselves" they ain't our kinda people!!
When it comes to my rights and my freedom, I get real radical.
Best,
Ed

Swampfox, don’t disagree with you at all with the political game!!!
Yes Ted is very smart, well versed and a great spokes person.
He started off great But, If Ted was doing a interview on national TV and went into one of his usual rants such as this:
www.youtube.com/watch?...p5sY0&NR=1
How much credibility do you think we’ll gain ?
I’m willing to bet that the message he started with (the importance of HR218) will be lost and the media would play a clip of him over and over telling Hillary to pick one!!!

Thing is that Ted for all his good has alot of bad, the media will focus on the bad and ruin him.
What the NRA and the CSSA/NFA here need to do is what Swampfox said, build the same fear the anti's build in the eyes of the public and politicians, but but as well in normal people as well. The Anti's have played this angle for years without a second "choice" being force fed into the average person.
Problem is, gun groups focus too much on the "Right to own guns" they don't focus half as much on the "a gun can be used for your own safety" angle except after force feeding everyone the same old issue that its a "Right" to own guns. The average non-gun owner needs to hear how a gun can help them in their day to day lives not how to protect their "Rights" they don't exercise in the first place.
Imagine how many more gun owners can be had when you go into a college/university and show the girls how they can defend their selves with guns from attackers. Tell them how many girls get raped while they are in college (I believe its something stupidly high like 15%), how many couldn't do anything to stop their attacker because they simply were not strong enough. Make them understand that the liberal attitude is not the right one and that they do have a means to stop them from being attacked as long as they embrace firearms for their own good.
That is in my opinion the best way to weed out anti-gun people, by teaching them that there is another option other then not resisting a attacker and doing as they say so it will "end quicker", till you can call the cops. But by then its too late the emotional and physiological damage has been done. Give them a way out before they have to face what happened and make them realize that by not doing anything it is their fault.
