took the family up to the duck pond today.set up a feeder bucket with a nosloc feeder on it with wheat for feed. I figure its time to give feeding a go. we caught two trout and four wee salmon from the boat while we were there so a great few hours out with the family.lots of ducks and geese about. we will have to go back up most weekends till opening in may now to keep it full. good excuse to go fishing. why didnt you guys suggest it sooner Laughing Very Happy

'Cause I cant suggest it if I don't know what it is....

Are you feeding the fish or the other "critters"?...

Good luck with the bucket Elvis
We haven't had a duck season here for years and it doesn't look like we will be getting one

Well done on the feeder Elvis. I hope you have got the feeder well hidden so only you and the ducks know where it is....no sense in getting everything ready for some other bugger to jump in and trump ya mate. Evil or Very Mad

The trips up to keep it full will give you quality time with your family mate...and believe me when I say life is short. That has been bought home to me rather poignantly recently. Sad

Don't count ya chickens 'afore they hatch ticks....I heard a whisper that with all the rain we have had up here in Qld, and not having a duck season for a number of years, the ducks are overpopulating.

Don't be too surprised if you guys suddenly get a season mate. Good Luck.

Cheers, Vince

Thought that's what ya meant, but figured I better check.

Feeding fish (even in an attempt to grow a record fish) is legal here. Feeding waterfowl (in order to hunt them) is considered "baiting" and is strictly prohibited.

Good luck with yer ducks....

theres nothing illegal about training fish to jump out of the water to feed out of a bucket, the ducks are just a bonus.

yip im a kiwi through n through. well the weekend went well we didnt get many 15 birds in all but we had a great time and we have 3 months to get some more. weather was typical fine with no wind. lots of guys out and about. my buddy who was shooting with us went tits up over a bank and broke his leg saturday morning so that added a little drama to the day. we bundled him off to the doctors and they managed to get his waders off in one piece they were only worn for two hours before he fell over so we were a little loath to cut them off.he is fine now but wont be doing much shooting with three breaks to lower leg and a great big cast to cart round.

I'm green with envy young Elvis....I'd love to be able to get out into the bush right now...can't afford it at the moment though.

Took my grandkids fishing yesterday...all we managed to catch were catfish, telapia and striped grunters...none that are worth the trouble of eating. BUGGER !!!

Cheers, Vince
