I recently purchased myself a Moultrie game camera and have been getting some wild dogs on film. I have also just obtained permission to hunt a block for red deer. I will be the only hunter on this block so I want to set my camera up over a feeder. Has anybody got any "build it yourself" ideas for my feeder or is a bucket with holes in it as good as it gets? The feeder will be placed in thick scrub so I don't wan't anything too bulky.
I have even considered a salt lick block or salt paste, any thoughts?

take 4-5 ft of 3-4in pvc pipe 2 caps 4 eye bolts and nuts take one of the caps and drill 4-5 1/4in holes in it glue it on the pipe now cut about 1/2 way through the pipe along the cap heat the pipe along the cut until it is soft use something about 1/2 round a( dowel) push the cut in till it touches the back of the pipe hold till cool about 60sec. now heat the top and dent it so the other cap will fit without binding now drill holes on each side on top and bottom install the eye bolts now attach to a tree and fill with corn cost about $5

Having not seen this feeder before, do you have a photo of the finished product as mounted?
Best,
Ed

PS: A fast and dirty "deer feeder" can be made from a large plastic jar of peanut butter. Unscrew the lid, do not remove the seal over the peanut butter, nail the lid (open end out) to a tree with two vertical aligned roofing nails, about 4 feet off the ground. Screw the jar back onto the lid. With a pocket knife cut off the bottom of the jar thus making a cylinder full of peanut butter. The refill is just screwing a new jar in place. That is it.

Don't have pic. of the feeder but need to add that the holes are in the bottom of the cap to drain water and use 1/2in dowel in center bottom to push the pipe back. Will try to get pic.

I just put a pile of grain on the ground at the edge of one of my alfalfa fields...works just fine! Smile

Here is one of the pictures, look in the photo album. Couldn't get to the message. PS Use thin wall pipe, works best.
