Being open to different foods can be a experience and sometimes you eat things you wish you didn't but if your at a persons house you eat up, thank them for the meal and make them think you liked their food if you did or didn't like it. Not to say I avoid going to some peoples homes if the menu was sub par. But still make the effort to eat up. At the end of the day food is food. Very Happy Cool

Well, you know that they tell us that we will eat anything on our plate if we are really hungry and I don't know that I can argue with that!!!! Somethings that sound horrible might actually be delicious if we ate and knew not what we ate!!!!

The hardest part of eating "exotic" foods is getting your head wrapped around the idea. It is surprising what texture and taste have to do with what we like or don't. I eat avacados in the half shell, in salads and with nachos. I had to work to eat my first taste of monkey.... seeing it on the spit before I ate was the problem - it looked like a baby being cooked.

Turtle is absolutely magnificent. I put it right up there with crocodile. I had turtle when I was in the Torres Strait (between Australia and New Guinea).

The Islanders catch the turtle, turn it upside down onto a large round table then kill it. A number of guys sit around the table and each has a "butchering" task. The turtle is dismembered and shared around the families.

Marinated in soy sauce and garlic, then cooked on the BBQ....its to die for. Worst part is the fat...it has a greenish tinge to it, but doesn't taste bad.

Can't come at full grown octopus, but baby octopus dipped in tempura batter and flash fried in really hot oil is really nice.

'Mitri...spread your avo onto a sandwich with roast chicken and you will change your mind mate. Avocado is one of those oddball foods that has no redeemable features on its own...but add it to something else and it enhances the flavours really well.

Cheers, Vince

Vince, you are right about turtle and I would never turn down turtle meat!! The first time I ever ate it we had some neighbors over for dinner many, many years ago. Karen,my missus, was kind of uncertain and negative, but when we started on our first piece, just to be polite, we ended up by eating the whole platter full!!!!!

All of this talk about food is good forme and I have really been enjoying it!! A big part of the reason is that I go to the clinic tomorrow and confrim that I probably have lime disease which has killed my appetite.
It is either lime or rhuematoid arthritis, and after reseaching we are prety sure of lime. Will know for sure in a couple of days!! Smile

Might have to try it no garrentees though. Biggest issue with them being like soap is that it reminds me of getting my mouth washed out with soap when I was younger hence why I know how Irish Springs tastes like. Embarassed
