Once again, I'm with you guys.
Like you Bushy, I have never taught my students to go cold chamber, and I never will. My next class starts July 21 with 75 students registered.
I carry a Keltec PF9, with a round in the chamber, thanks to the PMd advice that I received from Bushy. {when in doubt, I ask Bushy}

Credentials Bushy, means NOTHING to experience, and I defer to you for the experience factor.
Hands down, you know more than I do, along with a lot of guys on this forum.
I learn everyday around here.

IMHO, if you are carrying WEAPON for defense, then yes, I agree a chambered round is the way to go.
HOWEVER, here in the Great Land of Oz, although the critters here are nastier than the critters in the USA (spiders, jelly fish, conch shells, crocks) they are mostly do not attack human as prey.
We do not have large dangerous animal (even the water buffalo eats grass) except for the crocks, and they are in the water area up North near Vince
Due to the fact that the only nasty animal here that may prey on you are other two legged critter that looks a lot like you (human?) - and the fact that we are NOT allowed to defend ourself (the cops will do that for ya)...
There are NO reason for you to carry guns with loaded chamber at all, unless you saw your prey and ready to stalk and shoot them.
So there ...

Especially with a bayonet attached to it.
And yes that one of my deer hunting rifles.

I call it my "poking stick" when the bayonet is attached. Useful for making sure the deer or bear ( ) is dead before getting closer. Just kidding.
