Saw this in the news and thought I would pass it along. The US interior declares the Polar bear a threatened species.

Purely political. There are a couple of problems with this declaration:
1. The government of Nunavut has studied polar bear populations and found them to be on the increase.
2. The Dept. of the Interior has put the bears on the threatened list because of global warming which may deprive the bears of their habitat.
3. The Endangered Species Act has no provision for protecting animal populations because of loss of habitat (ice sheet).
4. Section VII of the ESA specifies that activities that cause protected species to be threatened can only be conducted with a specific exemption from the Dept of Interior or the courts.
5. Under Section VII, any activity that produces GHGs, such as driving any device with an internal combustion engine, could become illegal
based on the "accepted" theories around global warming.
This is what we get for allowing junk science to prevail.
