Well, there is this bartender friend of mine who tell me,
"After you think the customer drink more than they should, rather than refuse them outright for the next rounds, just start giving them drinks from "special mix" bottles. They wouldn't know the difference."
You may be getting watered down whiskey Mr D.

Doubt it Geland, the bartenders were too busy opening new bottles all the time cause of the amount of alcohol consumed at this place.

D-
I no longer chase the hard stuff, like ElyBoy, shortly after marriage I toned it down several hundred notches - I still drink beer now and then, but I like the real beefy beers - the blacker the better or a real fine ale will get me through as well.
So far as hangovers, a shot or two of tequila in the morning puts you right back in the game, but Mexican food for whatever reason always eased the hangover - except for that one time we all woke up in jail in Mexicali!

July will be 18 years since I had a drink. I sure don't miss the hangovers

Normally I don't have more then 7-8 drinks, and I dont wake up with a hang over. This time was the first time I drank too much.
Won't be doing that again on purpose. Then again wasn't really trying to get drunk ether, just sort of started drinking early and stopped drinking late.
By the way Eric, what is this "safe" fun you speak of ?? I'm gonna do something that made a thread go on and on atleast on another board but I'll spill the beans here too, never had the need to practice "safe" fun because I never did that kind of fun before as I never met a girl I'd be alright with dealing with the consequences of said fun if something were to happen.

The stuff you need to watch out for are the Sneeky drinks.....The ones that taste like there is no alchahol in them. I went to my Cousins wedding reception and was drinking something called Apple Pie, Tasted like Apple Pie, Duh! BUT, It was made with 195 proof EverClear. OOF, what a hang over that was!

Crackshot,
You just mentioned the main reason I don't drink mixed drinks. You never know what your going to end up drinking.

One thing to remember about drinking good Single Malt Scotch is that it's expensive & shouldn't be wasted.
After a couple of ounces of the good stuff, your taste buds & sense of smell are somewhat anaesthetised & a reasonable Blended Scotch can be substituted if you're going to drink any more.
When the Port Ellen distillery on Islay (a Scottish island) closed in the early 80's, I bought a case (12 bottles) & only finished the last one a couple of years ago.
Nowadays it's $300+ a bottle & though occasionally tempted, I buy Laphroaig or Bruichladdich for "somewhat" less.
As one gets older, the appeal of becoming totally bladdered recedes, though unintentional inebriation can occur:
Two years ago, I made my first foray over the Pond to shoot at the Whittington NRA Centre in northern NM & despite being forewarned about the effects of altitude on the ability of "flatlanders" to hold their drink, I paced my consumption as normal......
.......my head the next day>

While not $300.00+ per bottle, I love Glen Livet single malt 12 year old scotch. Ive had the more pricey scotch and found no difference to explain the $260.00 difference in cost.

Well thats true, Just had the same type of Scotch I had that night Ballentinos, remembered the bottle and name when I saw this bottle, and let me tell you I'm glad the Wisers did mess my taste buts, as I didn't like this stuff at all.
