German WW2 Mauser's were converted by Norway after the war to suit the 30-06Spring. By milling the front receiver bridge. Smile

I sold a gun once back in the 80's and I swore I'd never do that again... just hurts too damn much

Dimitri: if you are asking the value of the Mauser, lots more information is going to be needed. WWII converted Mausers might include some actions that are more desireable, sporterized military stocks or high quality custom stocks. It hasn't been drilled or tapped, so, what type of sights are on it? Whose barrel? Has a casting of the chamber been done to assure proper dimensions? etc etc

Marstone: selling guns often reflect that owner's preferences are dynamic and not static. Many redefine their needs over time and existing firearms often provide the cash to move on to other and more appropriate firearms. This has happened to me on several occassions and I have never looked back, although, like most, there are always a few I wish I still had that got traded along the way. Welcome to the forums!

I would say at least $300 cause a Russian capture
Israeli rechambered is worth $250-@400.

Handloader I agree too many variables. Smile

Q,

I don't know, seem some Israeli rechambered ones go for more then Russian Captured ones. Because its easier to get 308Win ammo then it is to get 8mm Mauser. Smile

All I know is what I would sell mine for, if I found myself in a position where I would have to sell them.

For instance, I have a favorite Mauser in 270 Win that is a one inch rifle with 140 grain Remington factory Core-Lokt ammo. This rifle started life as a 1906 Brazilian military weapon in 30-06. By the time it got to me, it was merely a complete action, with a small amount of pitting below the wood line. The reason I found it desirable is that the magazine was long enough to hold the 270 cartridge without modification.

What I have done is rebarreled it with an A&B chromoly barrel, turned the bolt handle down by forging, tuned the trigger, sandblasted and refinished with parkerizing, drilled & tapped the receiver for a scope mount, added a Leupold dual-dovetail one-piece mount, and put a Buhler safety on it. I topped the rifle with a 2x-8x Pentax Lightseeker. The stock was a semi-finished Fajen to which I shaped the rollover cheekpiece, added a rubber buttpad, and applied Uncle Mike's swivel studs. The rifle has been pillared and bedded.

Not counting the labor and scope, I probably have a little over $325 in it (1990 dollars). I also have about 30-40 hours of labor, most of it going into the stock. I would not sell this rifle for under $450, and considering its accuracy, I would have a hard time letting it go for under $500.

Now, I also have a pseudo-Scout on a Mauser action that I threw together with leftover parts. It has an FN barrel in 308 Win that I picked up for $40 and promptly chopped to 19 inches, a butchered plastic stock that I bought off ebay for $35, and a scout scope mount of my own design. There are no iron sights (maybe next winter). If someone offered me $250 for it, I would have to think of a reason why not to take it. It is one ugly gun, but it is serviceable, even if not too particularly accurate. Maybe one day I will take it up again and work on it, but right now, I am working on my 6mmAI long range varmint Mauser.

Phil,

But your talking about a proper "custom" Mauser rifle, your not talking about butchered bubba sporterizing job. Which in its caliber makes it worth more to some then a military correct Mauser in some odd ball caliber as there is plenty of hunting ammo to buy over the counter for it. Smile
