For those of you who reload allot of belted magnum cases this die may be for you if you want to get more loadings out of a case, eliminate head separations in as little as 4 loadings, and stiff bolt closure. You can stop throwing away good brass that does not chamber any more by using this die. This one die will work on almost all belted magnum cases (except the 224, 240, 378 and 460 Weatherby).

This die has been tested and proven effective by numerous folks in the know and that information is posted on the website at the link below.

The inventor of this die only has them made up in batches about every six months when he has enough people sign up for them. But, it is first come first served to buy the die off of the website. They are in stock now and went on sale today. I missed buying one on the last batch but just got my order in for one this morning.

Innovative Technologies Belted Magnum Collet Resizing Die

Vince,
He ships out of the US. You are not left out this time if you shoot belted mag's. Very Happy

Howdy Hey popgun, thanks for the site. I see how it works. Cool, just resize as normal then resize with their die to reshape the body, Right? I bookmarked the site for later. I shoot a 8mm-300winmag I built. This would save my brass for sure..Thanks again...Dave in Nor-Cal Very Happy

All you're doing is resizing the area directly above the belt , your FL die doesnt do that ..

Hey popgun, this is a post by Larry Willis in response to some questions I asked about his die. He copied my question in front of each of his responses. Note the answer to the 2nd question

Quote::
Some questions from woods:

Would the die have any advantage if you are not having any problem chambering reloaded rounds?
Sooner or later you will have trouble getting your belted magnum handloads to chamber. It's just a matter of time. Another sypmtom you may encounter is a "fail to extract". This is caused by jamming an excessively wide handload into a tapered chamber. (works just like a milling bit with a morse taper). I've seen a lot of these handloads that required a mallet to open the bolt. The Belted Magnum Collet Resizing Die will also solve that problem.

Does the die do anything to alleviate the tendency of the belted magnums to develop case head separation and how does it do that?

No .... because 99% of case head separations are caused by excessive headspace. That's a completely different problem.

If your die sizes the whole case smaller everytime then doesn't that mean that the brass is "worked" more with each firing?

No. The Belted Magum Collet Resizing Die doesn't resize the whole case. It just resizes the pressure ring "just above the belt". It resizes to the SAAMI spec minimum dimension, and it is only required on cases that won't fit into the top of our die.

Why don't you make a collet for a regular (30-06 type case)? Doesn't the same situation at the pressure ring present itself?

There is no need for this type of extra resizing on non-belted calibers. Unlike cases like the 30-06, the belt on any belted case will limit the travel of any conventional FL resizing die.

Our website at www.larrywillis.com is devoted to helping shooters make the best handloads possible.

I do not have one of his dies and certainly do not know enough to say they are necessary or not. But I have not experienced any of the problems with belted cases and I reload a lot of them. Usually after 6 or so firings of a case I toss them, but it is not because they do not chamber anymore.

That is also my experience. I bought the above mentioned die but have thus far never had occasion to use it. I guess you can call me a sucker.

I believe there are more important things to spend my money on. It apparently solves a problem I have never had loading belted rounds for 30 plus years.

I misstated about the case head separation. As for me I have had excessive expansion of the belted magnums to the point that they do not chamber easily. That is in 264 win mag, 300 win mag and 375 H&H in as few as two firings in standard factory chambers. The belted Mag Sizing die is fixing the problem for me. Every chamber is different and therefore you will either need the die or not depending on your chambers. If you have the problem the die will fix it by resizing as stated. I don't sell the die or get any kick back on the dies sold. Just pointing to a product that works if you have the problem. As for the cost, it is high and that is because Willis only makes them in batches when he has enough buyers to make a run of dies. He is not backed by any of the regular die manufactures and all of that is explained on his website. The list of users listed on his recommendation page speaks well for the die and how well it works.
With the increasing cost of components, especially brass, you need to try to squeeze as many firings out of your brass as possible.

Mine came about a month ago. I have not had a chance to use it yet, as I have not shot my 300WM in a while.

I will write up a report on it when I have had a chance to use it.

As Popgun said....Willis appears to make a good product.

I don't shoot any of the belted magnum calibres, but I went ahead and asked Willis some advice in another area. I cannot speak highly enough of his dedication to shooters. His reply was extremely prompt.....same day from memory.... and helpful. I asked a further question of him and got the same result. This is a guy who is prepared to give time and advice to shooters even if they are not purchasing his product. Definitely a man and Company (Innovative Technologies) to support, because he supports us.

Cheers, Vince
