Yesterday at the state gamelands public shooting range nearby, I observed folks shooting like they were training for duty in Iraq. One fine fellow left 40 rounds of Remington .338 Winchester Magnum brass and the boxes on a bench for me. I managed to collect several hundred Winchester .45 ACP cases and 9mm brass. I get the shooters and observers to help pick up cases. Next time I will take a yard rake to help gather brass. All the best...

I WISH PEOPLE WOULD LEAVE BRASS LIKE THAT AT MY LOCAL RANGE. YOUR LUCKY TO FIND ANY BRASS HERE. MOST OF THE EMPTIES YOU FIND ARE UNRELOADABLE STEEL CASES FOR 7.62X39 AND SUCH. HEY LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND SOME 300 ULTRA MAG BRASS!

Haven't come across any .300 Ultra Mag brass, but if I do it is yours for the postage. All the best...

Hey Gil, if you don't have a use for that 338 brass, let me know. I need some for my son's 30-338.

Bill,
I have a Winchester Model 70 .338 Magnum that is unfired. I may load a few rounds and give it a try. If I come across anymore .338 brass it is yours for the postage. All the best...

Thanks Gil. The last batch of new Winchesters split the necks on about 25% of the 40 cases the first firing. I annealed the rest and so far so good.
Thanks again!

Sunday I spent the entire day at the range, one of the few times for me so far this year. I was surprised at the amount and variety of empties that were in the brass buckets. I don't usually keep any, but this time I found a bunch of 8x57 brass in one of the buckets and laid claim to it. Usually where I shoot has a lot of .223, .30-30, .308Win. and the ubiqutous .303Brit. cases and little else. I wish I'd taken time to sort through all four buckets. Who knows what treasures I would have found.
Best wishes.

Gil, Was that range Ontelaunee in New Tripoli? I drive by you from time to time on my way to the range there. Don't go often (90 miles one way) but it's a nice range and cheap.

I don't mean this to sound like sour grapes, but so much of our brass today is little more than junk. Necks out of round, primer pockets punched off center, the list is long. I see that Nosler and Hornady both are coming out now with what they call "precision brass." Supposedly these are more umiform in both weight and dimension. I'm glad to see that someone is starting to address the problems even if they are more expensive. Best wishes.

RPM1031,
The range when I get most of my brass is the state gamelands range a few miles east of Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club. I run the high power rifle matches at Ontelaunee and shoot something just about every weekend. All the best...

It's a nice range and can't beat the price. It looks like they did a nice job on the 200 & 300 yd range. Haven't used it yet. I usually get out during the week but if you see either an old, silver, '91 Accord LX or a green Titon with a cap from Jersey it might be me.

Let me throw my hat in the pile. While you are looking around If you find any 7x30 Waters, 264 Win Mag, or 7mm-08 Rem I will pay shipping.
Have a great day!

popgun,
I came across a box of once-fired 7X30 cases and gave them away. I usually find 7mm-08 and will keep you in mind. All the best...
