My first rifle was a 22 Cooey bolt action tube mag repeater my Dad bought for me brand new when I was about 11 years old. I wish I still had it.

Mine was the Winchester Model 150 (lower end unit) I bought with paper route money. I wore out the firing pin and ejector.

First CF rifle was actually a custom job that was given to me because I was owed money and the donator could not pay. It was a '98 Mauser action, Mc Gowen barreled, .284 Winchester with a Red-field scope. Sweet rifle but it was stolen from me by a house setter.

You can get parts for that mod. 150 if you still have it.
My first rifle was a Winchester mod. 190, 22cal semi-auto. I paid $30. for it with a scope on it in 1970.

My first rifle was a single shot .22 Lake Field Mossberg. My dad got it for me for my 12th birthday. I still use it for picking the heads off of Grouse.

Beside the Gun Grabs, I never sell any of my gun yet, and I hope never will have to.

I did not know the Aussie govt. had confiscated such commonplace long guns as a Ruger 10/22 and a Remington 870. Did it have to do with really short barrels or mods to increase magazine capacity beyond factory spec?

Sounds like you guys are being squeezed into an ever tightening corner.

If yours was the Cooey 600, I still have mine. It has taken its share of groundhogs. Great first rifle eh!

I wish I'd bought a scope for it back when because now with the original cheap iron sights my groups are not so much groups as 'patterns' - lol.

Now my go-to .22 is a sweet Anschutz 64 - very very accurate.

Hey twofifty,

Yeah.. they put on the ban list in the last 10 years
- ALL semi auto rifles (rimfire, centerfire or shotguns)
- ALL pump action shotguns
- ALL pistol more than 10mm caliber (or was it .40 ?)
- ALL pistol with barrel less than 100mm

On the other hand, the gun crime rates actually increases big time during this period. And statistically, almost 99% of those are committed by the unlicensed criminals, thus most of the gun murders etc goes cold case because the guns are not registered.

They just couldn't get in into their thick skull that licensed gun owners are mostly law abiding citizen.

Yea mate.. no need for you to protect yourself.. we will protect you (after we eat the donuts and solve the police personnel shortage problems). Trust us, we are the government ... NOT!

Yes mine was a Cooey 600. I wish I still had mine but I traded it off during a weak moment back in the mid 70's. Sad

My first rifle was a Savage Single Shot 22LR, I saved for about a year to buy it. It was $17.50 new. I still have it. I believe a box of 22's was 50 cents then, 1965. It killed a lot of rabbits and tin cans. With nine kids my dad didn't dare give us anything or he would have ended up buying nine of everything.
