Does anyone have any ideas about getting rid of the rubber smell on a new pair of Lacross Burly boots?
As a archery hunter I'm concerned about odors and do not wish to sit in my treestand and smell these boots. The sent controll spray I use does nothing to rid this oder. Help

I would leave 'em outside under a cover(covered porch, gazebo, etc) for a couple days before I used them, other than that I wouldn't be too concerned with it. You prolly stink more than your new boots, even when practicing the BEST scent control. Nothing beats a deer's nose better than the wind.

If it still bothers you, some of the "cover" scents might help, even if only a temporary need. Around here, 'coon pee is popular, but red fox urine seems to help too (I think it's a confidence builder more than anything else).

Gidday mate. I think that I would be talking to the outlet where you purchased them or speaking with the manufacturer.

I Googled them to find out more about them cause I'd never heard of them and found this:

These boots are much more comfortable and much lighter than traditional rubber boots. On the outside, scent-free, waterproof rubber offers total prote...

They are supposedly scent-free...maybe there is a problem with the ones you have.

From what I've seen, the rubber on inexpensive boots will smell a lot worse than rubber on good boots.
Remember--DON'T--go cheap with rubbers, or you will pay in the end. ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL Pray Pray Pray Pray Pray Pray Pray

Eric,

I'm sensing that there's something you really feel a need to disclose about some time you may have gone ahead and used a cheap rubber...whoops I meant rubbers of course.. ROFL

It was something about the smell Tracker, but we won't go any farther than that. Very Happy

All BSing aside, when I first started bow hunting many years ago, I ALWAYS wore my 16" rubber boots into the woods. Then I started thinking about all of the other human scent that I was producing. Also the deer that I hunted in the BWCA were still around humans to some extent and had smelled us guys more than once.
For the past many years, either bow hunting or firearm hunting, I have returned to wearing my Cabela's Kangaroo upland boots, or my Steeger Mukluks.
I still see and shoot as many deer at close range as I did when I wore rubber boots.
I watch the scent on my hunting gear, and take a shower in scent free soap before I hunt.
Mainly I watch and hunt the wind.

Eric

You might try washing the outside of the boots with some "no scent" laundry detergent, rinse well and then spray on some cover scent. I use an "earth" cover scent since I figure that there is dirt about everywhere I might hunt.
