Most of the gun laws came into effect before I was born/old enough to even know about them. But yes I do not agree to thouse laws but when you have anti's pushing the fence sitters of this country vocally for so many years they got their way.

But the results of the last federal election which for most of the country was a single issue subject (gun laws vs punishment for criminals). And as the election results proved that even fence sitters in this country right now are realizing more gun laws will not make a difference, therefor they voted for tougher punishement of criminals, the Liberals idea to prohibit handguns was the real reason when you think about it why they lost. That was the issue they were trying push through the election and the Conservatives "soft" stance on guns. All of this thanks to a more vocal pro-gun movement in Canada on that last election and the truth slowly starting to be printed in newspapers, said on the radio and shown on the TV.

That last Election hopefully will be a turning point on Canadian gun laws.

D,
I am sorry that you guys are having to learn the lesson the hard way.

Not one gun law is enough for the antis. Any anti law is truly the nose of the camel.

Dimitri, you could get the cheapest one first and then start enjoying yourself strait away and work up to the rest. Or hold off and watch all your mates having fun with theres until you get the expensive one and then getting the cheaper ones will seem so much easier.
Some times the self torture is a good lesson, but is it really neccessary?

Firstly welcome to the forums. Howdy

Glad to see another Australian on the forum! The more Commonwealth members the better. Wink

Anyways yes I could go and get the Enfield first, then the Remington then the M14/M1A but the M1A well has alittle something more then the rest, all of them feel equally good in my hands (if I do not like the feel of it when holding it/playing with the action well I don't buy it), all have some significant value (Enfield served the Commonwealth admirably), (M700 is a classic hunting rifle with its roots in the P14/M1917 rifles & is known for dependability in harsh conditions hense the extensive use of it in the militaries of the world), (M14 is well the best battle rifle ever produced in my opinion). Smile

Reason for the M14/M1A in the end is the fact well its semi-automatic and I perfer semi-automatic rifles over bolt actions, and because well I've wanted the M14/M1A alittle longer then the other 2. Very Happy

Hunterjoe,

I was just pointing out he is from Australia. Which of there are not many on the forum which is good to see more gun owners coming from restrictive countries like Australia. Wink

And as Bushmaster said execpt only more so, Australia is Canada's sister country, similar in more ways then probably any other 2 countries in the World.

That just strikes me as odd. If you were from Australia I might understand.

If he was from Poland would you say "Great to see more Polaks here"?

What is someone from Afghanistan joined? (Although you could use more Afghans during those long, cold Canadian winters)

No offense meant to any nationality, but is any one more welcome than another?

Hunterjoe21. If you think I'm politically correct, you are VERY SADLY mistaken. I made that entry because of your inability to deal with Mr. Dimitri's "welcome" to another Aussie. And I really don't see what point you were trying to make except to create a bit of discontent...You need to put your shell back on. It's obvious that you let too many peoples comments bother you where there was no intent to slight anyone. Do not try to change "Big D". We happen like him just like he is... wtf

Like everyone else...You are most welcome on this board. Where we discuss everything from Hunting, Fishing, Camping, Family and when there isn't any discussion on these topic we tell stories and jokes... Very Happy

Bushy,

I think you're politically correct! Don't you sort of take a view somewhere close to...use some common sense, common courtesy, and tell government to keep their damn noses out of people's business? I mean correct me if I'm wrong cuz I don't want to be doing your talkin' for ya (and I know you will, lol)To me, that's a correct stance politically Very Happy , but if anyone's callin' ya politically correct from the usual context of that phrase, well I guess that'd make me an anti-gunner and a proponent for more government controls or something. That just gets too weird partner. Personally, I'd be happy to see more Polaks on the site too, and if I just said something offensive..well, whoops! As for all the Aussies out there, I'd like to say CHEERS MATES!
